In a way not having records of what happened keeps these guns more interesting.
I agree. A lot of us sure seem to spend a lot of time keeping notes & sharing info on these just because of the lack of records. Those Ruger, Colt & Smiff guys must be bored half the time, because they can just look at a book for any info they need.
Regarding the value of that 15-2, I'd say at least $455. Seriously though, I doubt bidding will get much over $500 on that one. It's a very common model...now if it was a .22 Mag or a .32-20 for example, it would probably be at $1K by now.

Kinda like Treasure hunting, just enough evidence to keep you digging.

Especially appreciated the info on Karl Lewis.
I'm with you there, the rare Karl Lewis info that members have found & brought to our attention here is very interesting & totally appreciated! There is no doubt that Mr. Lewis was an amazing individual, bar none.

I have a DW 445 SM #IHMSA#01X, It has a 8" slotted barrel shroud. It is in very good condition and it has very little if any wear. I am looking for info about these special edition guns. When I got it I did not know that it was a special edition and probably bought it cheap. The only other gun I have that comes close to the same quality is the other DW 445 super mag that I have. I will try to upload some pics.
Thanks

First welcome to the Dan Wesson place. I believe what you have is during the hay day of IHMSA, an IHMSA member could order a DW at a discount with their member number as the serial number. With that low of a number it was a early member probably high up in the organization. Others will come along who may have better ideas. Again Welcome.
Pictures are welcome!!!!

I haven't been a member of IHMSA for a long time. Life got in the way. I am sure IHMSA members and their numbers are public record and probably can be googled up. If not we have several members here who are active in IHMSA and may be willing to shed some light on the subject.

IHMSA would likely have that information, and would almost certainly not share it. They might possibly forward a request for contact to the Member if they still have current contact information.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I have one of the IHMSA membership number guns. It was bought from Elgin gates when he ran IHMSA. I doubt if many records servived the lawsuit to get the IHMSA name back. The revolver is a 10" 44V which just makes IHMSA legal weight due to a longer relief cut on the bottom of the shroud. It cost $375 in 1989. Adding a Bomar sight set added enough weight to make the gun 1oz overweight. 2 years ago I purchased a slotted 445 supermag shroud and barrel which was a perfect 1 oz lighter and legal because the DW revolvers were considered out of production and had obsolete status. That made reproduction, replacement parts legal. Oh yeah, the shroud and barrel cost as much as the original gun!!!!

I have a 10" 22 SRS-1 that is double action, is that unusual? Its a First Issue so the shroud and the frame are serialized and carry identical numbers.
