You're on the right track. The "7" always means stainless, across the DW board.

So if it's a blued .357 Magnum, with adjustable sights, it's a Model 15.Smile The same thing with fixed sights, would be a Model 14.

Looking forward to someCool Pics

Mike- I just bought one yesterday that is a Model 14 that has been refinished in Nickel or Chrome, but the paperwork says it's a 714, which would be stainless.

I have also seen a Model 15, blue with adjustable rear sight, transferred or sold somewhere along the line as a Model 14. Once the model number gets put on it somewhere in the paper trail, nobody wants to change it and create a possble "audit point".

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Most FFL's never know what model the DW's are unless you tell them--If you don't say anything, it will be a "357 CTG" 🙂

DWAS
We call it Dan Wesson Acquisition Syndrome. The slogan of our support group is:

Just keep buying them.

I must point out that our support group has no self control, but they have a lot of great guns

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
