Hello,
I recently picked up a lil Dan or 738p at auction with a broken hand. I had no idea how rare these are and even more importantly of their unique guts. I fits my hand well and has some nice weight to it. I’d like to get it running reasonably. I’m open to suggestions.
Thanks Gents!

I reached out to Eric Wesson hoping he had some parts lying around but he said he had nothing for the lol Dan. Sorry looks like your going to have to have one made. They were already pretty rare guns so any parts for them would be hard to come by! Hope it was cheap! If you end out parting it out I will buy the grip from you!

This guy here has been putting a lot of DW parts for sale. Maybe send him a pic of that hand and see if he has one. Never know there might be one mixed in one of his multi part listings.

Do you know the part number??
I think I might have one...
I realize it's a .357 but for what I think it does... cycling the cylinder process (but I really don't know exactly what function the "hand" is actually performing) and the .38 S&W, .38 Special & .357 all share the same base diameter (
.38 S&W .38 Spcl .357 Mag
Rim Diameter .440 in .44 in .440 in
)
My speculation is the diameter of the cylinder is the same and would be indexed the same amount for each round.
Anyway, let me know if you can use the part.

As the trigger is pulled, the hand spring engages the hand and pushes the hand against the rachet(star) to turn the cylinder. All small frame Dan Wessons have the same size cylinder, rachet and hand. The only difference is the chambers in the cylinder. So, 22LR, 22 Mag, 32 mag and 357/38 Special all use the same hand. A Lil Dan is a different size frame and cylinder. The hand is unique to the model.

OK, good info... and kinda what I thought except the Lil Dan part... what is a Lil Dan?? Did DW make it?? (will be Googling it but if you have more info happy to hear).
Lil Dan is a 5 shot 38 Special from Wesson Firearms made at the Palmer factory circa 1991 to 1995. Steel, fixed sight conceal carry gun. Similar to a Ruger SP101 but lighter and a bit smaller. They have a removable barrel but no other barrel lengths were ever sold. That is a shame in my opinion. The choice of longer barrels may have made it more unique.
