check this revolver out.

While browsing the web I found this. I never heard of a Gold Series. It seems to be a model 15 with a slotted shroud and a GOLD trigger? Is it a genuine series or a hoax. Judging by the photos and description it seems to be legit. Either way it's a beautiful revolver.
Have any of you guys heard of this series?

Isn't the bluing on this gun immaculate It's like black chrome.
Yeah, you can almost see one's ancestors in it.
That's certainly an interesting gun, I wish the pics were better. A few thoughts come to mind...
* The slotted heavy shroud on a Model 15
* The $10 cheap-o case that barely fits the gun
* Judging from the engraved "Dan Wesson" on the shroud, it looks like a Norwich gun. So if Bob Serva will join the forum one day, we can get the lowdown on this thing.

Slotted / Vent Heavy - isn't that an oxymoron?
Other than that particular anomoly, it's a beauty and sold for $505, which seems reasonable.
Maybe HotBluer knows what these were all about - not to mention he probably did that "ancestors ancestors" Blue job (which will heretofore be known as "AA Blue" or perhaps "AAB" in DWF acronym speak...).
-gad, that was a mouthful...

Very interesting and very nice (that black chrome is someting to remember), but how does a revolver with a yellow plastic rear cylinder (unfired?) insert also have one of the worst drag ring marks I've seen in a long time. Someting funky going on here.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Here is the information from the 29th Blue Book of Gun Values on the Dan Wesson Gold Series.
MODEL 15 GOLD SERIES - .357 Mag., 6 or 8 in VR heavy slotted barrel, "Gold" stamped shroud with Dan Wesson signature, smoother action (8lb. double action pull), 18kt. gold-plated trigger, white triangle rear sight with orange-dot patridge front sight, exotic hardwood grips Mfg. 1989-1994.
100% - $425
So this definaltly puts this pre-Norwich if this information is correct.

But the Gold stamped shroud is missing, I have seen shrouds with gold in the Dan Wesson on the left side, this one looks black.

I think the gun value book probably means that "Gold Series" is stamped in the shroud, not actual gold lettering...but I could be wrong, of course. 🙂
You can sorta make out the "Gold Series" on the shroud here...

BTW, I was thinking incorrectly that the engraved signature in the end of the shroud started in Norwich...but now I do recall that some of you guys have Palmer guns with that feature, so just chalk it up to mindless babble again! 😀

Now it is on GB already
Looks like it's up for round 2 on GB. Wonder what the story was with the last auction winner?
Round 1...

Round 2...
I have one also. If I ever part with it, I am sworn to make it available to Hugelk. I read that they were mostly made for the European market to compete with Pythons and Manurhin MR73. Mine is a Monson gun. The polishing is a cut above the normal gun. Not all had the gold trigger. Mine is blue but highly polished. IIRC, I paid about 1500 on GB. Except for the few pictures on the internet I have only seen one very beat up one on GB. And yes, the "Gold Series" on the shroud refers to the model, not gold filled letters. Mine also has a deep cylinder line. That may be because they were factory tuned and turned.Â
