It's 40 week on Gun Broiler this week! Serve up a deep fried 40 or a broiled 40 for a great Supermag dinner! You get a 40 I get a 40 everyone gets a 40! Also a huge dump of Dan Wessons driving down prices and serving up a smorgasbord of Dan Wesson Revolvers! This morning a 40 was listed around 8am for $900! Buy now! I was ready to pull the trigger but the pics were dark and I was already bidding on a couple of other guns but worry not, Captain 40 swooped in and snapped that $900 40 up! (captain 40 is a well known forum member whose insatiable appetite for the 40 is well known!) Now still 3 Monson 40's still out there (most with Monson Barney) and one Palmer also. I am predicting some record low prices since this dork (highcapglock) flooded the market with 10 Dan Wessons all at once! Throw in an all you can eat amount of 357 mags and the prices are low, low, low! And don't forget to make comments about my writing in bold (I have trouble seeing so I write in bold) I did not think bold is the same as writing in all CAPPS! Anyway i'm a bit punchy after getting two dental implants today and the pain meds are in full swing! Happy 40 week to all and to all a good bid night!

So looking back my attempt at being funny was not bad, and my pain level has gone down. I was right & wrong in my thoughts. The 2nd 40 hammered at $1500 three are still two out there (though all the Monson guns seem to always have Barney so buy the Palmer gun still for sale) also some great deals on 357 mags. One I saw for $699 id in new perfect condition! A .41 mag with 2 barrels and an original .44 mag pistol pac (you do not see very often) and a 375 supermag showed up. I bid $1500 on that gun already because I have acquired dyes, brass & bullets over the last 4 months so might as well buy the gun to match!

So an update on my crystal ball. I was correct on most of my late night rants. First I WON THE 7445!!!! Yea and at a pretty good price of $1767 also he has a low shipping and no extra CC fees so $1927.88 out the door. could have been worse! Cross off another bucket list Dan! So the next 40 hammered for only $1150 darm good deal for a good condition Palmer blue! A couple of other great deals I could not jump on due to my 7445 purchase was a VH pistol pac hammered for only $1553 a fantastic deal! and a Model 12 pistol pac (no case) but with 3 barrels and tool & extra grip goes for a crazy low price of $750. I almost got it for $700 but someone out bid be at the last minute I was too busy watching the 7445. Also a 15-2 in new condition with extra combat grip hammered for $612 ( really $550 since the extra grip is worth $75) Finally a 715 with extra barrel & tool hammered for $881. highcapglock the guy who listed 10 different Dans this week did not do himself any favors. Og he also has a Palmer model 14 in very nice condition for only $500!  These sellers need to space out the listings as prices have been going down a bit with the saturation of the listing heard!

I had my eye on the 8” 44 and bid it up early just to be an ass.
It wound up going for about 1/3 less than I paid for my 4” 44, but I’m glad I didn’t get it. It was a Monson, same as mine, but had the newer rear sight that is interchangeable with ruger sights.

While it would be really nice to have a fiber optic rear to match the front sight I have, I decided that was a silly reason to buy the same gun. 8” with a scope would have just been a range toy for me anyway, and after it ended around 1.1k I added a white paint border the notch on my rear sight. Good enough for any furry attackers I encounter.

Thanks for making this post. It was fun to watch the auctions, even if I didn’t score anything.

now I have to figure out your bid name on GB! Mine is easy, same as my name here! Where in alaska do you live? I worked up there in 2012 thru 2014 driving a tour bus for Holland America! Was based out of Fairbanks first year then Skagway the last year! Had a great time doing highway tours. I did a 4 day tour from Fairbanks to Copper Center, Valdez then on to Anchorage and dropped them off at the train in Whittler, picked up a new group, up to Denali and back to Fairbanks! Then 2014 Skagway to Dawson City!

Name on GB is catrat and I have a whopping 4 feedback lol. Pick up from a local gun shop whenever I can, but there’s been a couple that I just HAD to have NOW, and paid to play. Like my Dan! Which brought me to you beautiful folks.

I’m in Anchorage, but have a lot of family in Fairbanks still. It’s a beautiful place, to be from! I’ll take the more temperate climate of the SE over the interior every time. I like space to myself, but having civilization nearby has its perks too. That sourdough idolization is for the tourists and felons lol I like being able to have access to goods and services when I need or want them. Great grandpa homesteaded a huge swath of goldstream valley, so I grew up seeing how much work goes into the self sufficient lifestyle. It’s a dream but not mine.

Man that’s a lot of hours on the road! You’ve seen more of this state than I have, and I’ve lived here my whole life. 4 day trip?? That’s nuts… Did they stay the night in Copper Center and Valdez? What kind of lodging was provided? I having trouble imagining the people shelling out for those kinds of tours staying in a dry cabinbig-grin

There is a Princess lodge in Copper Center in the middle of nowhere. The first day I left Fairbanks and took them there. Really nice 108 room lodge. I would take them there and stay for 2 days. In the morning I would take some people who wanted to go down to Valdez put them on a whale watching boat, and pick them up at 4pm back to the Copper center lodge. 3rd day to Anchorage (we would stop at the Glacier then in Palmer and stay at Cooks. Then on to the train. some trips were shorter then pick up a new group off the train, on to Denali (2 days) on to Fairbanks and start the loop all over again. some would leave in Fairbanks some would make the entire loop with me. They would stay at the Princess or Holland america properties. Once in a while I would pick up all the way in Seward and once in a while I would take them from Fairbanks to Dawson (Top of the world tour) I made great money and had the time of my life! I did all the commentary also besides the driving.

Ooh okay that makes sense. I was thinking it was like a road tour, but you were ferrying them to and from. Sounds like a cool experience for sure!

I just made the trip to Fairbanks the other week, and things sure have improved along the way! There’s passing lanes every 30 miles or so with the exception of a stretch north of Denali. It wasn’t that long ago that a photogenic moose would hold up the highway in both directions and pullouts were the only reprieve from 4 cylinder motorhomes from the 80s and only if their drivers were courteous.

that sounds like a great experience! Glad you were able to spend so much time on the road up here

It was a road tour. I was also the tour guide as well as driver so not just a ferring guy. I had to know all the stories and all the sights to see all the stops. All cash tips as well as my hourly wage. It was a great gig! some 4 day trips I would have 40 people on the bus and took in over 1K in tips! It was a fun job and I got to meet so many nice people from all over the country. They were all on vacation. I always was a good story teller (bullshit artist) so a mix of history and very bad Alaska jokes! I had to know everything about every stop along the way. As you may know in Palmer  in 1935 the US government paying for hundreds of families to relocate to Palmer (right outside of Anchorage) in the new deal from many north east cities. It did not turn out too well as the people soon figured out they had to clear the land of trees to grow crops. Many left but a few stayed and their families still own much of the land!
