I got this 15-2 this past weekend. Judging by the serial number, I think it was manufactured around 1976.
I followed the tutorial and cracked it open to take a look and give it a quick lubing. I'm going to send it off to be re-blued.
I shot about 24 rounds of .38, and then about 48 rounds of .357. Had to adjust the sights, but I'm very very pleased. This one will definitely not be a safe queen! I'll be reloading .357 and giving it a heck of a work out.
Spring is coming and life is good!

Good looking DW, congrats on your cool find & to the forum.
Being an early 15-2, your gun has the pinned front sights, as you are probably already aware. Shortly after yours was made (in the 69xxx s/n range), they introduced interchangeable sights that continued throughout. Just thought I'd toss in an interesting tidbit...in case you wanted to know something that you never knew you wanted to know in the first place.

Nice! Be sure to take plenty of before and after pics. Give hotbluer a ring for a quality job, if you'd like:

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Will do. I've contacted Blue Ridge Bluing and will be sending it in the next day or so.

ALS1200, most Monson models are interchangeable, some early pork with external nut were a semi fixed barrel, they are few and far between! When you get into the Palmer guns they can be fixed barrel.
Good looking 15-2 now get it out there and shot the heck out of it! Oh and Welcome and thanks for the pics!

That's a beautiful looking weapon. I like the grips in the first pic, but those Hogue grips are quite awesome! Something about wood grips on a wheel gun--the just make it look better!
The grips are a pleasure to shoot with as well. They came with a grip screw and it worked fine for installation. You just can't screw it in to far or the hammer will not stay back in single action.

I just wanted to update this thread to note that I have fallen out of love with the Hogue grip. I definitely favor the Pachmayr and I am looking forward to getting some Grippers.
The Hogue looks and feels great in the hand, but there are two major issues with this gun that are deal breakers after a short time.
1. Fit.
Shims are necessary (per manufacturer) to keep the grip from moving around. I was never able to get a "rock solid" fit.
2. Grip Screw.
The screw interferes with the hammer. It must be constantly adjusted to prevent issues.
The Pachmayr grip is rock solid and there are no grip screw issues at all.
For fun, here is a pic of my newly acquired EWK 8 inch barrel assembly. It's heavy (duh). Can't wait to shoot it.
