Its been loved pretty well LOL … and has some Barney , but I am stoked to find one locally.
My issue is the cylinder locks up and stays locked if I go to spin it to the right … but it just takes a small amount of pressure to get the cylinder to spin to the left without my hand on anything else but the cylinder.
I think I read on here another guy had multiple revolvers that were acting the same way … is this something I need to be worried about?
Thanks for the help/advice! 🙂 ---

Thanks Stinger!
I looked through the Registry and it seemed like my 9xxx serial number could be from 79' , but whats confusing me is they supposedly never went above 27xxx? I know the model 22 started being made in 1979 … what year did they stop making them?
I think someone said the DW logo changed from DWA around 81' though? I have DW medallion grips.
Any insite on the year of my gun by chance? I must be reading it wrong. 🙂 ---
You are. 22lr was made all the way until Bob Serva sold DW to CZ. Your gun was probably made in the debut year of 1979. DW medallions were in use by then. In 1986 the serial numbers changed to caliber, S or B for stainless or blue, and then the number which started over. Example, 22 B 9xxx. Along the way, I believe after 1991, instead of the caliber they gave the model a letter. A for 22, B for 32, etc. It changed again when Serva bought DW in 1995 or 6.
The vast majority of Dan Wessons were built before 1984. Semi autos took the country by storm and LE switching reduced demand and manufactoring of Revolvers slowed to a crawl. There seems to be a resurgence of small Revolvers for concealed carry. The reliability factor is attractive to those who have trouble racking a slide.
