Just received a new to me 8" to accompany the 2.25" barrel that originally came on the 14-2. I wont tell you what I paid for it since jealousy will ensue 😛 here is a pic:
The barrel came drilled and tapped for a scope and I was thinking about putting one on since I plan on chasing deer with it. The previous owner has no idea what mount was used on it so im stuck trying to figure it out. Is there anyway to tell without wasting money buying mounts that look like they may fit? Here is a pic of what i'm dealing with.
Thanks

Thanks guys. I'm really diggin the set-up and can't wait to put it to work. What picatinny rail should I get? Another thing I noticed was I had a weaver mount for a Marlin that I was hoping would fit (but it didnt) and the screw that came with the weaver wount were too big for the holes on the barrel. Are picatinny crews smaller than weaver style?

Best way would be to take the shroud to the local hardware store and find
what screw goes in there.

Someone that has similar type mount could give you some measurements on
the holes and verify a possible maker.
Â
You could post your measurements, between two holes, farthest to farthest,
and between two inner holes, with those three measurement someone could
check their's for you.

Prolly best bet is those holes are 6-48 thread. But if they didn't fit could be 5-40. Google Weaver 28 base, that should give you a starting point of the bases that were on it. Just a random one I have sitting here on my desk, you should be able to find dimensions online for them?
