New here, my Grandfather used to let me shoot his Dan Wesson when I was a kid.  I always wanted the pistol pack however and just put one on layway (only because Maryland will only let you buy one handgun ever 30 days).  Pistol pack, 95% with all pieces excet for the beltbuckle, but also included a black rubber (aftermarket) Pachmyer Grip in addition to the factory wood grips for $690 which is good by Maryland prices.  Havent run the numbers but it is a Monson and apparently early.

Getting abit of the bug and see a .22 and a .44 and perhaps a supermax (or dare I dream of an Alaskan Guide adding to the collection).

WelcomeJimBob.

We can see that you've already got DAWS Smile.

Ya gotta post some pics as soon as you pick up that gun.

Makes me want to keep watching gunbroker, probably look for the .44 pistol pack soon as I want a larger bore double action (used to shooting hot loads through my Blackhawk Bisley).

I hate buying pistol packs and other collectibles and shooting them but you only live once right?

Welcome to the DWF Jimbob2!  I can't think of a better way to jump back into DW's than with a Pistol Pac.

As someone here wrote a while back: "Dan Wessons are for shooting and acquiring"...

So, as you say, you only live once.  Shoot 'em, change barrels and shoot 'em some more!

We'll look forward to those pictures when you close out your layaway!

Welcome

Thanks, yes either the .22 or .44 will be on the list next.  Have to wait a while till finances unwind as I have far to many gun purchases in the last few weeks.

Wouldnt mind having the .45LC as well, but unless I stumble across one may have to look at the Super Redhawk for that purchase.

Here it is.  Modeling in its 8" configuration, I have since put the 4" barrel on.

I also will be picking up a Ruger Redhawk in .45 LC with a 4" barrel for a backpacking sidearm (where open carry is legal) a little heavy but anything smaller and lighter I am not hugely comfortable with.

Jimbob- that is a terrific looking Pack, someday I gotta get a Pack. 44 Packs are pretty rare, however Jody has a NIB First Issue Palmer VH, that he "packed up" to 4, 6, 8, 10 VH with an unfluted cylinder. One of the most beautiful  revolvers you will ever see

I know it's available

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Hey Jimbob,

Nice pac.  Steve is correct on everything except location.  The 744 pictured above is a Norwich gun.

Ya mine is just a Mod 15 .357. Ill get one, or just a good gun without the pack (or the “Hunter pack”)>

Right now I am a little broke for another purchase (between it and the ruger bear gun I am tapped out).   Plus I hate to buy a brand new gun then I feel bad shooting them!

Nice pac Jimbob. You feel bad shooting a new gun. Whats wrong with you?poke Besides it's only new for one shot, after that it's used.Wink

GTDW

Don't know if it qualifies as GTDW but $690 for a 4 barrel pack is not a bad deal, especially with the recent price raise from the factory for barrel/shrouds.

What is GTDW (assuming DW is Dan Wesson).  Thanks guys, as I said I think it was fair especially from a dealer.

Now if I can just find a stea

l on the .45 and .45LC I want

We have an Acronym List on the sidebar, but I'll tell you that

GTDW

is Grand Theft Dan Wesson (a Great Deal), and as glenncal1 points out, given the increase in new shroud/barrel prices from CZ/DW, I expect used prices to go up as well.

You're pretty close to GTDW territory, and I will also say that you did a great job of rescuing a very low priced Pack from the clutches of the Pack Breakers. Unfortunately, there  are folks out there who make money by buying up Pistol Packs, breaking them up into all the bits and pieces, and selling them off on Ebay/GB, etc. Your Pack could have been sold off as just the pistol, then everything else sold in pieces. A Pack Breaker would probably have gotten close to $1000 for it this way, and an irreplaceable piece of history would be gone forever

BTW, I may not have said

Welcome

yet
