Was cleaning my revolver over the weekend and notice something really odd about the barrel. The muzzle end of it looks almost like it was cut off with a lathe, and never crowned or deburred. I wouldn't say there is a burr in the muzzle, but it definitely doesn't look like your typical muzzle crown. Gun is a Palmer Mass 715-FB.
Anybody else have this too? I will get a pic tonight hopefully showing what I am talking about.
I shot some rounds through it and it didn't seem to effect anything, so maybe I am just being super picky.
Thanks guys

Most DWs of the Monson era were not crowned as Dan Wesson himself did not believe in crowning barrels. At some point DW started to crown barrels but I can't say exaxtly when. Someone else may come along with more or better info.

I "think" that crowning a handgun barrel is something that is fairly easily done by a manufacturer to help a buyer think they are getting something special. Crowning an otherwise properly manufactured barrel that is flat and even at the muzzle, with no burrs or other flaws is something that might reward an exceptional shooter shooting at longer ranges.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
