They're Zebra's.  Sometimes they can have a laminated look though so it's understandable they are described as laminated.  Looks like a nice gun.

The grips look much like the Zebras on my 44 mag, not that I'm an expert on whether they're laminated or not. Obviously, the barrel and the frame/cylinder came out of different bluing vats.

Here's a genuine laminated grip

LB made this one for my son after his Persian Gulf tour, and another for Ron after his safe return from Afghanistan.

I'm pretty sure that there are only two LB American Hero grips, and both were gifts from him freely given to American Heroes

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

The frame has Barney. Perhaps a reaction from the silica in the investment casting mold when exposed to the blueing. Same vat, different steel. Almost all blued dans have a different hue on the frame than that of the shrouds and sideplates which are not cast. Most of the time it is very slight and detectable only in strong light . Lg. frame dans also can show it on the trigger group.

Thanks for the correction Ole Dog. Very informative. The blueing on my recently purchased Dan 44 matches very well from frame to shroud. The new VH barrel from the factory isn't as polished and is more of a black color.

If you are looking for a 44, I say buy it. You would pay more than half that price for the barrel assembly alone.
