Actually Crimson Trace makes a laser grip for the Ruger LCR ... the Ruger LCR grip attaches to the frame in a similar way as Dan Wesson revolvers (you can see an exploded view here)
Looks like it might be easier to mod than a S&W set http://www.gunblast.com/Ruger-LCR2.htm

Yeah, the smaller J-Frame size grips wouldn't be the best so maybe my original idea of making an adapter for some K-Frame grips would be better.
Also, I wonder if something like the LaserLyte could be modified to work on a model 15 (wouldn't work on my fixed rear sight 14)?

Keep in mind that a laser that is not closely (horizontally) aligned with the bore axis can produce a lot of parallax. If your laser is mounted substantially lower or higher than the bore axis, you will experience a fair amount of POA/POI variance, especially at closer distances. The Crimson Trace grip concept seems to reduce this to the extent that the laser emitter is close to the horizontal plane of the bore axis, but can introduce some left to right variance. Lasers are fun, but just because you put the dot on a target doesn't mean you hit it, unless you are shooting pretty close to the range you have sighted in at.
This Nightstand Gun is sighted for 7 yards, if you rely on the laser at twice that range, you don't hit the "dot". This design would have been much more effective if the laser was stacked on top of the light, closer to the bore axis.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
