I take it that there are no laser sight for the DW as a search came up with nothing.

Shooting the wife's 1.75" barre 38 SP with laser and found it easier and funner to hit the target.

I'm not familiar with a laser sight, but would think that one that mounts on the trigger guard would work like some of those plastic guns use.

I was thinking if DW could make a shroud with a rail on it.

I am sure the trigger guard lasers would work but they look like they would get bumped easy.

I wonder if one could make an adapter to allow for the use of a Crimson Trace grip for a S&W revolver on a DW.

Just cut a piece of aluminum in the shape of the grip frame of a S&W and drill it from the heel for the mounting screw.

just thinking out loud here...

Actually Crimson Trace makes a laser grip for the Ruger LCR ... the Ruger LCR grip attaches to the frame in a similar way as Dan Wesson revolvers (you can see an exploded view here)

Looks like it might be easier to mod than a S&W set http://www.gunblast.com/Ruger-LCR2.htm

The only caveat to that is that the LCR is a very small gun, similar in size to a Lil' Dan. Wait, a Lil' Dan would be fun with lazer grips...Cool

Yeah, the smaller J-Frame size grips wouldn't be the best so maybe my original idea of making an adapter for some K-Frame grips would be better.

Also, I wonder if something like the LaserLyte could be modified to work on a model 15 (wouldn't work on my fixed rear sight 14)?

I've always thought I'd like to try a project like that.

I think once Eric gets everything lined out he's going to have more work than he can handle!

I could see a heavy shroud being milled with clamp style or picatinny style grooves.

That would be more cost effective and give owner options whether laser or light.

Keep in mind that a laser that is not closely (horizontally) aligned with the bore axis can produce a lot of parallax. If your laser is mounted substantially lower or higher than the bore axis, you will experience a fair amount of POA/POI variance, especially at closer distances. The Crimson Trace grip concept seems to reduce this to the extent that the laser emitter is close to the horizontal plane of the bore axis, but can introduce some left to right variance. Lasers are fun, but just because you put the dot on a target doesn't mean you hit it, unless you are shooting pretty close to the range you have sighted in at.

Image Enlarger

This Nightstand Gun is sighted for 7 yards, if you rely on the laser at twice that range, you don't hit the "dot". This design would have been much more effective if the laser was stacked on top of the light, closer to the bore axis.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
