New to this forum but not wessons. Had a 15-2 for better than 35 years and have a 44 now that i will hunt with this year and would like to lighten the trigger pull abit. I have been try'n to find a lighter spring for the hammer on the Large frame revolvers . Nothing at wolff. Any idea's here?

Welcome to the DWF.
I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that most guys here say to stay away from Wolf springs, and by no means cut a spring.
You might want to try Mike Heffron at http://www.heffronfirearmclassics.com.
He has a good reputation here for work done on Dan's.

Wolff does not offer a spring for the large frame guns and i have not messed with my small frame but have use wolff springs for frigger returns, hammers and in mags for decades with out any problems. I will indead check with hefferon firearms. My 44 is just a bit on the heavy side for a hunter, set at 6 1/2 lbs now. Would like 3 or 4lbs in SA mode. Thanks for the info

I would not change springs, make sure your moving parts are smooth, square and true. Eliminate any friction points. If your not a DIY I can recomend Heffron gunsmithing work. It's amazing what he can do for the DW with out chaging a single part. I thought I had my DW's pretty smooth, after shooting a M15 that Heffron did I need to back through mine.

I will talk to heffron but not really interested in spending a bunch of money to get a 2lb trigger if a spring change can get me 3 to 4lb . If i could get the trigger to work as smooth and as lite as my 357 with just a spring change that would be all i am looking for . Don't want a bench rest trigger for a hunting gun. Just a bit lighter. But i will talk to hefferon. Thanks

Is it possible that someone has messed with the trigger on that gun? All of my Dan's come in at 3-4 ibs. SA, except for my 741 which is about a half pound. Yes, someone messed with that one.
It seems that someone here experienced a heavy trigger and discovered that it was due to the grip screw being screwed in too far. Just a thought. If that is the case, ACE hardware has nylon shims that can solve the problem.
