I have never seen one but according to the label on the box the 738P was offered with 2" and 4" barrels.

I would like to have a 4" for mine but I'm sure this isn't going to happen!

That's may take on it for what its worth. Laugh

Yes, the barrel is removeable but it's a tough chore.  I also would like to have a 4 inch for mine.

Took me a while to figure out what Jody meant.  He meant that he has never seen a 4 inch barrel for a Lil" Dan.  Neither have I.

Hey Zoom,

My barrel and shroud removes just like on all other DWs.  What do you mean by it's a tough chore?

Jody:

For some reason, which I have been unable to pin down, my shroud fits so tightly that I have to rock it left to right for a long time in order to get enough space between it and the frame to put a cloth covered screwdriver in between to pry the shroud off.  And that's the only way it will come off.  There is no corrosion on either the barrel or the shroud and both have a light coat of oil.

That's wild Zoom... I just tired mine and it slipped right off...

Wonder if we could talk Keith into custom making a 4" for these baby's.  Based on current prices it would probably be more than I paid for the gun!

You're right Jody, about the cost.  There's one other negative to that:  no roll-marking.  I talked to Keith about roll-marked SuperMag shrouds.  He said that they no longer have any roll-marking equipment.  That's a real shame because I want VH6 and VH4 barrels for both of my SM's and I love the roll-marked "SuperMag" on the side of the shroud.  I'm wondering if a good engraver could replicate it.

We could ask Keith about those barrels, just out of curiosity.

OK, I just thought it was a snub only, now it makes sense.

Because they were made before the Fixed Barrel models came out.  From a manufacturing standpoint you want all of your tooling/procedures to be the same if possible.
