This is from the NotPurfect Site:
"For a short time, the company was offering a pistol called the Lil' Dan, which was a small .38 Special revolver with a short barrel. Presumably the frame was of reduced size and weight, but I have never had my hands on one, and only know what I have read. I believe it only had a five round capacity, but I could be wrong about this."

The Lil' Dan was actually the model 38P or 738P, depending on finish. It was a 5-shot +P rated .38 Special revolver that weighed 25 oz. It was only made during parts of 1992 and 1993. It came with a 2" barrel that was not removable like it's bigger cousins.
It was a very sturdy gun. I believe it failed in the market place because it was so much bigger and heavier than the S&W mod. 36 that carried the same round count.
I always keep my eyes open for one at gun shows but I never see one. I guess they're not rare, but maybe "uncommonly encountered" best describes them.

Hey Guys, I've been looking at a 738P for some time now and finially decided to pick it up. Lee I think you're correct on everything except it appears that the 738 does have interchangable barrels. At least I assume so since the one I'm getting comes with a wrench. I actually haven't gotten to see this one in person. It's being shipped out today. Here are some photos:
Hey Guys,
Went and picked up the 738P aka Lil' Dan today. This is my first Palmer gun. I have a 722, 2 15's and a 744 all Monson produced.
This seems like a very strudy little gun which I think we all would assume that. As folks have stated before the fit and finish doesn't seem to match the earlier Monson guns. I'm glad I picked this one up since you don't seem them as often but I might be more skeptical in the furture about getting a Palmer gun off the internet.
I'm hoping to find someone to go to the range with me on Sunday. If I do I'll update you on how it shoots.
