Hello All,
I am looking at one of these B-Squared scope mounts that will fit my 744-6VH... it's getting expensive, so I may not be doing any more than that.
Anyone have any experience with these?
It appears the scope mounting rail bolts to the vents of the shroud, then the rings bolt to this... seems to make sense to me.
Is this a 'stable' solution for the 44's?
I like the idea of this, but need to know if it's the 'Cadillac' solution for these weapons.

Hey Mike:
It will fit your 744 just fine. And while I have no personal experience shooting with one, they are very popular so I'm going to assume that they work very well.
Sorry about the high price. They're getting scarcer all the time so the price keeps going up, just like everything DW or for a DW.
Hope you get it. If you do, perhaps you could provide us with a range report.

Thanks ya'll,
I will try to win it... and then i'll need a scope recommendation (I would like something that will allow me some accuracy up to 50 yards, at least 25)!
I can use the existing sites up to 15 yards pretty lethally....
I know I just need to be a better shot, but this will get me started.

In addition to the clamps that attach to the sides of the vented shroud there are 2 "stabilizing" set screws that screw down from the top of the mount. One presses against the top of the frame (on 6" shroud) and the other presses on the top of the shroud vent rail. These screws have a brass cap where they rest against the frame & shroud, in order to reduce marring. They will leave a visible, but not deep or ugly mark. I bought a 715 with the mount attached and the marks were visible when the mount was removed. Still there until I get around to having the frame & shroud tops bead blasted. They don't really bother me, so I'm not in a hurry.
I have never actually put a scope on any of my handguns, but plan to - someday.

HERE is a link to our Topic on scope mounts, and the photos of the scope mounted on a shroud with the Burris mount and the B Square are originally mine.
I think that the best clamp on options for DW are (in order):
1) Leupold rings
2) Burris Clamp On
3) B Square
I no longer have any of these mounts, and I don't have any scoped revolvers. Truth be told, I "over scoped" with a 2-6x scope, and ended up realizing that I went way beyond my needs, which is really paper punching at 25 yards, max.
B Square can very easily fit your needs if you are OK with adding a fair amount of weight and having the scope up a little high above the bore axis. It is a solid and easy to manage mount for a DW revolver
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I had a .44 with one of these clamp mounts and shot it with great accuracy. It did not loosen or move for me while I used it. It is a great way of not permanently changing your barrel assembly. The small screws in the top do create rub marks on the top of your BA, but I am sure they could be polished back off if you opt to remove the mount in the future.
