I have a Dan Wesson Arms .357 with a lower serial number than I have seen on here. It has adjustable rear sights. The serial number is 7650X and I think it's a Model 12 Target but of course I am not sure.

I have other views available should they be helpful. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  When I find the value I should set what is in the picture is what comes with the gun. This is also stamped with Monson Mass.

That should be a Model 15 gun.

You may want to wait for other opinions as to it's value, because I tend to guess high. The ammo wouldn't necessarily add to the value of course, but I would guess in the $500 range, maybe more. That's if the gun is in good shape, both mechanically & it's bluing.

Welcome Ian, great to have you here in the Forum!

As charger said, that's a nice looking model 15-2V6 you have there.  V6 just means it's a vented rib barrel shround (not Vented Heavy, which has the full underlug) and it is 6" long.  Your serial number dates it around 1976.

Check this tread for factory documents and info: https://www.danwessonforum.com/?page_id=3/dan-wesson-history/documents-from-221976

If you go back one page from this link, there is a letter from the factory dated 4/1/1976 that details changes, etc.

Just a note that the plastic wrench is early to mid 80's and the metal one with the barrel nut goes with the gun.  Nice that you have the box for the second barrel.

I would guess value on the lower side of $500,  around $425 - $475, but some of the other guys will help us get a consensus.

Well I was hoping for more replies as you suggested there would be. I have someone interested in this and one of the two other guns I have for sale.  This evening he is going to be pushing me for a price.  I think I'll just save this for an internet sale, That way maybe I'll have more info to make a decision about price.

Has enyone dealt with the guy who says he used to work for DW and is offering to do bluing for $80 or $85 dollars?

I haven't, but I've been curious about him too. Seems cheap to me, but maybe that's just because he's his only employee?

Just to help you out on opinions, I agree with Dusty and Charger on value. Six months ago I would have said that was high but prices have really jumped lately.

Nice looking piece by the way and welcome to the group.

I haven't dealt with him, but I called him once to get some info.  He is Bob Serva's Brother in Law and did contract Bluing for DW.  Sounds like he knows his stuff - but we really need somebody to say "yeah, he did my gun and it's better than new..."

Anyone out there?

I am guessing by that he said he used a hot blueing method. I could say "he did my gun and it's better than new" but of course that would be a lie. Yes I have been called smart ass on a lot of occasions.  I have a friend who has worn the finish down to basically no bluing left and was just checking to see if anyone had used this guy. I don't know who Bob Serva is but I'm guessing he is someone people on here know.  It really seems to be a VERY low price for a service where you would be sending your favorite collectors piece across country. So who is Bob Serva and did he (meaning Bob Serva) say he was his brother in law or did the blueing guy say he was Bob Serva's brother in law?  And I apologize if this offends anyone, I would just hate to recommend someone and then have a very expensive gun disappear.

Bob Serva was the owner of Dan Wesson Firearms in the Norwich NY plant.  He sold the company to CZ-USA a few years back.  I do not know anymore than that about Bob

Valid questions.  It is a hot bluing process.

In addtion to what SMF wrote, Bob Serva currently owns (as far as I know) Fusion Firearms - they make fairly high end 1911's & kits, aftermarket parts, etc.

Check the "History" Tab at at the top of the forum.

I can't vouch for the bluing guy, but give him a call.
