Good afternoon fellow DW fans,
About to sell this gun and I'm having a hard time deciding the value. Let me know if anyone might know. I don't think it was ever a completed pistol pack but a 44 mag pack? If the picture don't work in the post here are the drive links. Thanks!

Beautiful piece.
Since I have been trying to sell my one of my 744VH6 stainless on consignment for 6 months, I will begin with mt 2 cents. Locally, I have had an asking price for $1K. At the time, going hammer prices on Gunbroker was about $1K-$1200. All offers on it have been in the $700-800 range.
Currently Gunbroker has 13 for sale with prices all over the place. However, only three have bids with the highest currently @ $780.
Sold listings have gone as high as 1100 for one in the last 90 days with box, papers, and tools.
List on here in the classified, or find a local consignor with lots of foot traffic.

Thanks,
Sounds like it might be hard to sell, Ill put it on classifieds here. (CO) fyi. I'm a bit confused by what you said; are you saying your stainless 744VH6 magnum is the same price as my gun and I should list it for 900 bucks to actually sell it? Seems low but I understand. Was thinking it was going to be 1400 bucks from what I saw online with that kit. Let me know if anyone else agrees or doesn't on this post also. Thank you for responding.

Scout, were you trying sell a 744VH6 that is part of a hunter pac? Or are your $$ numbers for just yiur pistol without a case, an extra BA, extra ported barrel, original style barrel tool, feeler gauge, etc? Just curious if your situation is similar, if not he may be looking at a $1100-$1400 potential sale?

It's a pretty nice looking example of a .44M. I'd say clean up the case, wash or replace the fabric, straighten it up and put the barrel back into the VH6 shroud, and if you have even the most limited craftsman capabilities refinish that combat grip. As it is now the pack looks like a mess. Clean and straighten it up and it should be a $1,300 gun.

I just saw the Pac pics. If it is a true Hunter Pac with label and papers, you likely have a line of buyers right here. Pending condition, it could be a $2K pac.
I am saying do your local and online research to determine what prices the market will bare. My line of thought when listing was to watch online for s sale/sold comparable items for a base price. Add what a buyer would pay in shipping and fees, and set a price I can live with after consignor takes their 15+%.
I prefer a local consignor with a shooting range. They have 2400+ shooters a week. Their location is highly visible from the Interstate. And, their consignor fees and policies are the most reasonable within 30 miles

Correct me if i'm wrong but these were sold as 44 pistol pacs not Hunter pacs. The Hunter pac would have a 8" scope shroud and another plain 8" shroud. That's how my 32-20 Hunter pac was sold. I don't know if they even sold a Hunter pac from Monson but I looked thru several 80's pamphlets and see them sold as 44 magnum pistol pacs with a 8" & 6" barrel shown here in the brochure.

Looks like an original 44 PAC? Is there a label on the side of the case? If so take a pic of the label so we can see it. Correct me if i'm wrong but the 44 magnum pacs only came with 2 barrels. Grip sure looks nice also is that a LB?
Ill clean the cloth ( cloth is old so ill try and be gentle ) and refinish the grip. Any good stain matches or would a Walnut or Old American work? What is an LB grip?

I don't think this is a Hunters Pack, Scout. I think STMStan has it right. Looks like a P-44VH Original 44 Pac.

Also I want to know more on the DW Original Holster. Are they not very rare? I cant find any. Its Stamped DW on the end.
I see the "D W", I am assuming that it is just a holster designated for the DW gun? Someone correct me if I am wrong. I did mis-word previous response. The Hunter Pack does indeed come with the scoped shroud. I meant to says 44 Pac.
Now the question is: is there a factory label on the outside of the case? Pic please.

NO LABEL ON THE CASE. Forgot to add that earlier. Ill post pictures.
Have you pulled the foam inserts out looking for hidden gems?
Of and the washing the fabric. Woolite plus a few drops of Dawn. Hand wash.
If not to you liking, replacement yellow polyester is found @ Hobby Lobby and JoAnn's. Material Stock #s are listed in another posting.
Okay, 44 mag pack, Factory zebra wood grip with unusual grain.Should have 2 barrels for each barrel assembly, one of each ported. Holster is sold by Dan Wesson Norwich, not sure who made it. It is not original to the pack. I can't tell the condition but 1200 to 1400 for the pack. The holster costs 106 plus shipping 20 years ago. I suspect it would be worth over 200 today. So value 1400 to 1600. If you broke it up and sold pieces maybe 300 more.
LB is a long time Forum member who made extraordinary grips for a very reasonable price. I understand he is no longer making them and his grips have become very collectable. I wish I had had him make more of them for me. I have a one of a kind finger groove grip made out of lighterknot. That is resin impregnated wood from a yellow pine struck by lightning. Bruce said he would never make another. He had to clean every tool with kerosene to remove the resin. I have about half a dozen others I have acquired from gun purchases. They are the equivalent of Roper grips of yore but more artistic.

KG thought I would show you a pic of a LB grip. This guy made custom grips for Dan Wessons and they were beautiful. If you pull the grip off inside there would be a LB carved or burnt into the inside of the wood. I think looking again that's most likely a factory grip but would not hurt to pull the grip off and take a look. The holster is indeed collectible. You may want to sell it separately as you may not get what it's worth if you include it with the PAC. Here is a pic of my LB grip on my 715 First Issue!
