All, I have DW loose rear sight syndrome on my 715 beater.  It has alot of play and tightening the allen head with the slotted screw and resighting isnt helping.

Can I take it apart and replace the "spring" that keeps the tension or should I just toss it and get a Millett replacement?

It shouldn't be loose...there are two springs under the sight.  Is it loose, or do you have to move it with your fingers?

If you're going to toss the sight, toss it my way Wink

The site notch is definately loose, it wiggles albiet slightly with the lightest touch.  My other two DW's are very firm and solid.

Worn springs?

coil springs don't loose that much pressure... and it shouldn't wiggle at all due to the tight pin fit... is the pivot pin there?

Yes and it is solid at the front screw, its the section that adjusts for windage that is loose on the site itself.

I have a feeling the springs are missing, oh well just ordered a millet rear sight. I will keep the DW unit if just for parts.  Since this is a shooter I am not that worried about it and Midway had the Millett unit on clearance for $32 ($35 shipped).

I couldn't get the Millet cross pin to go into my frame, so i used the stock pin with the Millet sight.

What type punch did you use to extract the pivot pin?

To my surprise someone has tried this before I see small marks around the pin-hole which may be why this gun was traded.

you will need a 1/16" drift punch.  If you don't have one of those, you can use the shank of a 1/16" drill bit (be careful, drills are brittle and snap easily).

Jimbob, could you have possibly bought the last one?WOW

I cannot find the Millet on Midway. Could you send me a link to it?

I noticed that my older style which is the one that the blades are not interchangable, has a wobble to it. My newer style is solid. I do have another older style, but haven't dug it out to check it.

If Midway is out, does anyone have a lead on a Millet anywhere else? Thanks for the help guys.

Well, none at Brownells that I could find, but they are still available at Opticsplanet if anyone is interested. $43 with free S&H at least to my locale. I ordered the DW00002, hope it fits.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Just a quick update, the DW00002 that I ordered went on without a problem. Nice fit. It is a little high like SHOOT's picture in another post.

Point of aim on the 4" is dead on at 25 yards with it cranked all the way down. This is with

mag loads of 13.5 of 2400. It may shoot a bit high with target .38s, haven't tried yet.

Just wanted anyone interested to know that this (DW00002) one fits fine in the 15-2.

I think that narrower notch rear blades can be purchased and installed but I am not sure.

BRW, the tang in the old original DW rear sight still has movement where it fits into the body. Both springs were there.

 I know that Post Picssorry.
