Axe, I know you are not one to leave well enough alone with many of your handguns. I think this project sounds fun! I am one of the "DW purist's" here, and tend to cringe at the thought of a DW losing it's original identity by going under the "custom gun-maker's knife"...yeah, the very blasphemous idea does often make my "cheeks" pucker. LOL!! Although, thinking of a cool custom DW 45 does have a certain appeal & I know that with you, it's in good hands.
with your project, let us know how it turns out. I know you have a high standard where custom gun makers are concerned, so I'm not too worried. Looking forward too some when you get it back home.

Greetings
I guess I am the member who turned a 375 SM into a 414 SM. I am very happy with the conversion as I have two SM calibers without having to sell my 2 wheeler to have a 414.
More rescently I turned a 15-2 .357 mag into a 32-20. Found a 32-20 cylinder looking for a home and got a Smithy to turn a .308 barrel to fit my 15-2 fram and 6" shroud. Only hang up is finding a 32-20 ratchet as the 357 "star" will not eject all the fired brass. But it is one sweet shooting revolver. Been trying to find a ground hog up close to pop with it but so far none are volenteering.
But I like the idea of the 45 Colt. That would be a great round to have in a strong double action. Only thing better would to be able to have a 5 shot cylinder so you could really shoot it in that rock hard DW frame.
