Well first off to the . Next you are at the right place to learn about Dan Wesson's. If you are looking for someone to talk you out of buying a Dan you are at the wrong place . Prices vary from area to area but a 15-2 (or a 357 mag blued) with a 6" barrel should run between $300.00 and $450.00 average. But the market has been a roller coaster lately. As always I will insist that it doesn't matter what you pay as long as you are happy with it. The only gun purchases that I regret are the ones I passed on. I realise of course you don't want to get taken either. Others will be along shortly with more and probably better info. Good luck.

I know from looking around here that this is a 15-2 6 vh (or hv?). are the striped grips zeba grips? i have not handled this gun much, are there any problems i should look for? i shoot auto pistols mostly. it is being sold by a guy i know who found it in his fathers house. he is not a shooter so i think i can get a good price but i dont want to screw anyone either.
There is a lot to learn here, i want to get something good for my first revolver.

The Dan Wesson will be maybe the only wheel gun you may ever own! At least IN DA others may disagree though I would snag it and look for the best price, if he found it then he has nothing in it and if you can grab a bargain gives you some room to move it if you decide to. Or if you choose to keep then you have extra cash to snag goodies for it.
I would say in tis area 200 to 400 is a deal depending on what is with it. the grips are a plus as folks like them. Keep us posted on this and Pics as soon as you can!
Oh Welcome to the sit down stay awhile and come back soon!

Well then, go with LB's lower market value & offer him $300...or maybe $325 if that would make it into the "both parties are satisfied" realm. A lot of that price offer would be relevant to the gun's overall condition, of course. I would either go + or - from that amount depending on actual visual condition.
Let us know what happens & aboard.

I just paid $400 for a 15-2 vh4 with a plastic case, and 30 rounds of ,357 ammo. I probably over paid a tad, but I am happy with it.
The DW is a great revolver, starting or otherwise.

in that order.

I bought my dan wesson revolver, if i have it right it is a 15-2 6vh. i just saw in another post that you have a serial number listing so i looked it up and it was made in 1979. it is just the revover with the strped wood grips, so i need to work on how to take off the barrel and get the right tools for that. i paid $275 so i think it was a good deal from what i saw here.

You can find the barrel tool (and frequently the gapping shim as well) on both eBay and gunbroker. There's one on eBay right now but it's missing the 3 soft plastic covers.
Another option would be to order one from EWK Arms (see listing in right hand column). Eric's stuff is always top drawer. I think he sells the gapping shim as well.
Enjoy.

congrats. A 15-2VH6 with zebra grips is a good deal at that price. So now we need some pics so we can start therapy for the DWAS you have been exposed to.

P.S. I recomend Eric's tool, you will not be dissapointed.
