I purchased a 744 VH8 to carry when fishing in bear country. I knew the 8 inch barrel was to long to use as a carry gun, but thought that I could easily pick up a 6” and 4” barrel assembly for it. Turns out that the S.S. VH barrel assemblies are not that easy to find, EWK Arms is sold out and CZ (who knows if they are ever going to produce more revolver parts again)? So my question is can I use blued barrel assemblies in place of the S.S. assemblies? I know it may look hokey but will they work? Also will a 7445 assembly work on a 744 frame?
Right now I’m in California, but I’m getting ready to head up to my cabin in Montana where I don’t have the internet to search for these items. I also need to get a chest type holster and the barrel length will be critical for what holster I get. (I have been looking at the pancake holster setup made by Simply Rugged).

Yep - you can switch them - blue in place of stainless, and 7445 in place of .44. However, you cannot switch a .44 in place of a .445 - the cutout for the ejector rod is not long enough on the .44 shroud to put on a .445 frame.
