I have a Dan Wesson Arms Model 11 that I got in a trade a few days ago. I was looking find out some information about it. The gun in in very good condition and only has a couple small marks on it. Pretty much I was wondering if anybody here had any information about this specific model, such as a possible current value and when it was made. I can't seem to find much information about it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

First; Welcome to the Forum. I don't currently own any Pork, but some who do will be along shortly; I'm sure. The 2012 Gun Digest reference guide lists the Model 11 VG at $150, however that seems a bit low. I'd say $250 or so, but again- I don't have one, so I don't really know.
Thanks for the

Welcome to the forum, that is a very nice looking model 11. Ron pointed you to some good info about the early Dans. The early models do not usually bring high prices, maybe due to the exposed barrel nut and styling that not everybody falls in love with. Still very well built solid pistols that are fun to shoot though. In my opinion model 11s would go $250 or so, for a real nice one $300.

Thank you both for the info and the welcome. The exposed barrel nut definitely has an interesting look, but I really like this revolver. It just feels good in my hands. The single action is very short and smooth. The value is less than I thought, but really it doesn't bother me. Either way it seems like a nice revolver. Thanks again.

First, welcome to the forum from PA!
I'm no expert but I can tell you that the model 11 is a very early Dan Wesson, probablly from the very early 1970's. It is a fixed sight model, unlike the model W-12 which has adjustable sights. It has the early exposed 'ugly barrel nut' which retains the barrel shround and tube. These guns are usually very accurate shooters. I can't tell you its value but I think the 'blue book' values of Dan Wessons seem to be running quite a bit below actual current market selling prices. A seat of the pants guess would be around $300 for just the gun, no tools, extra barrels, factory box/case etc. Also, prices seem to vary somewhat by geographic region, some areas seem to run higher than others.
Your gun looks to be in nice condition for its age and has the 'four inch' barrel, actual size was slightly less than that. There was also a 2 1/2 and a 6 available for these guns.
What did you trade to get that nice old Dan?

Thanks Scorpio. Yeah the gun is in really good condition. I traded a smith and wesson sigma 40 for it... which i paid right around $300 for. So I guess it was a pretty equal trade. I traded because I already have another semi auto and I missed having a revolver. Can't wait to shoot it tomorrow.

The D11 is one of my favs! Shoot it and enjoy, If you don't have wrench for and gauge they can be had on GunBroker or sometimes ebay for around 40, or a quality 12pt socket with a .006 gap gauge will work to sent barrel gap! Beware that owning a DW in any style cold bring on , Alos look for extra BA's as said 2 to 6" do show up for at time! pinned front sight so changing them is not as easy as later ones!
Old pork has a place always in my gun safe! UGLY NUT, PORK CHOP, were 2 ways these are talked about!
You made a great trade!

I think you did great in that trade, your model 11 appears to be in fantastic shape! As some of these guys said, a gun as clean as your is, I would rate at least $300 or more.
Looking at the "-11-" roll marks, yours is definitely an early model built in 1970. Shortly afterward, they used the D & W letters, so your gun built a few months later would have been a D11. Is your serial number marked on the frame under the crane, or on the tang under the grip?
aboard & congrats on your cool score!

Thanks drummin, I'll check out the serial number to see what I have. And thanks for all the info dave and chargers fan. I feel like I got a good deal on the trade. So this revolver is of a good quality? To answer your question chargers fan, the serial number is under the grip. I haven't removed the grip yet though because I need to get an allen wrench for it. I'll definitely give a range report as soon as I get it out there, probably tomorrow.

Also, I meant to ask. Do you guys know of any good holsters that would fit this model 11?
Any thing that fits a Colt Python or Smith and Wesson 586/686 L-frame will work.
And to answer your earlier question, yes it's a good quality gun. Other than the shroud
and grip changes it is the same platform that was made for many decades.

Only a few holster makers seem to list D.W. revolvers. If you go with a leather or nylon open top, the material will conform to your weapon. Plastic holsters need to be molded to fit properly. The cylinder latch location throws them off. Get an empty box. I have one of full holsters for different guns that DIDN'T work, and even a couple for guns that I no longer own.
Happiness is a warm Dan Wesson and those small groups.

Depending on your price range for a holster, you could check out http://www.Simplyrugged.com . They make very nice leather holsters that are model specific, and they can do a lot of different models. Not sure about the model 11. I did get a pancake holster made by them for my model 14-2, it is very high quality and fit.

Not sure if you checked the links Ron gave you, but 11/12's were produced between August 1970 and September 1971, and retailed for $110.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
