I was in in gun shop in SC today and owner said he had a model 12 DW and was I interested in looking at it,me not knowing a lot about pork chop guns said yes and he brought it out.The gun was like new bluing about 95% good and tight gun.I asked him what he wanted and he wants me to make offer but I don't know if I really want it unless I can get it at a good price. What would a fair price be?This is the same dealer sold me 714 like new for $400.00.

As you may know, the Porkchop DW's are usually at the lower end of the value scale. So with that in mind, this seller may have been sitting on this one for a while & might just go for a low offer...say $275~300?

It's worth a shot at $275, IMO. goodluck

Any extras with it, which barrel, grips, does it say W12 on the side?   on the upper or even more if extras. These are great shooters and really get the looks when you pull it out at the range.  Ugly nuts are my passion!

I love my w-12's also--anything under $350 and it would be coming home.

Wait a sec…if this is a model 12, there will be either a "12" or a "W 12" rollmarked on the frame, as seen in the following two pics…

If there is no model designation, but merely a serial number, then this gun is a 15-1…no questions.wink I'm not trying to pass myself off as an expert here, so if it's something otherwise, then we…I…need to see somecool-pics LOL!lol2

So here's what an early Porkchop without a model 12 rollmark would look like…this one's a (very late) model 15, just before the 15-1 design change.wink

Cool! So if I'm reading you right, it just says "12" on the frame, like my 1st pic. If so, then the s/n is probably stamped on the grip tang & may likely be two digits...

Image Enlarger

If I'm not reading you right & it says "W12" on the frame, then it should have a 3 or 4 digit s/n stamped on the frame under the crane...

Sometimes the ones stamped under the crane are stamped lightly, and you may need to get it in good lighting to see it. Let us know the outcome on this one.goodluck

I just got one of these, seems to shoot really well, but I understand parts are a problem. I did get the barrel wrench with the small allen head wrenches.

Is there any source for screws, these seem to be a bit buggered.

Will this frame use the same grips as the 15's ?

Thanks,

Steve

Check with EWK >——right sidebar—->     for the screws and yes model 15 grips shpuld fit just fine.

W-12 takes a different side plate screw than the 15's.

Thanks very much for the help. I'm liking this pistol. Now I have to get in the back of the long line looking for Mr. .41 mag DW. I don't think I have enough years left in me.

Yes they are. A 15-2 screw is at the top in this pic, W12 at the bottom.
