Long time follower, first time poster.  I bought a model 12 with no external nut on the 6 inch barrel.  The other barrel is about 4 inches but does have the external nut.  Is the 6 inch safe to use?  would it be from a model 14?  The shroud is a pork chop model so I am really confused.  Any help would be much appreciated.  I am worried because I know that the sights have different heights.

Welcome to the forum! Drop by the new member Area a a d introduce yourself.

Does the shroud have a machined recess with an internal nut holding the barrel?  If so, I'd say a model 14 or 15 shroud was put on.  If the shroud is secured with some kind of barrel nut the it should be safe to shoot.  A quick trip to the range will tell you if the sight blade needs changed.  Also, compare the sglhroud profile to the other one you have and see if the sights mat h up..

A few pics would help us a lot.

Let us know what you find and we can get you running.

Looks like a model 15 shroud was used with the internal nut.  The sight heights should be close to that of the 12.  Take it to the range and see how it shoots.  You will probably need to adjust the elevation some to get POI/POA to match.  Looks like a nice W12!  Bluing is very shiny and dark.

I have a gun that's the reverse of yours...a model 15 with a W12 barrel assembly. Mine shoots great &  I'm sure yours will too.

Congrats on your find!occasion
