Im considering the purchase of a DW 357 mag which the owner claims is a model 14. To me it looks like a model 15, but Im not sure. Its made in Monson Mass and has the non-porkchop style barrel. I mainly want to know if the barrels will interchange with my model 15-2 which also has the non-porkchop style barrel.
I dont have any pics, but the SN is 3057xx id that helps.
I think the 14 and early 15s have the porkchop, so a non-porkchop would be a 15. Is that accurate? Any other way to know for sure?

If it is the more common "straight" shroud with a fixed rear sight it would be a 14-2.
14-2 barrel assemblies will interchange with 15-2's but there will be some point of aim/point of impact issues due the differing rear sight style.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Just pulled the trigger on this one at the online auction site. The seller and I will be meeting next week to complete the paperwork.
You're right about DWAS ole dog! I was mainly looking for a longer barrel (not necessarily a complete gun) when this one caught my eye. I have a nice Burris handgun scope that I'm planning to mount to a DW shroud, and then I can swap that scoped shroud between my 357 and 22. An 8" barrel shroud seems like a better candidate for that project than the 6 inchers I currently have, so this one should work well.
Of course, now I need to find an 8" barrel tube in .22 caliber.
Anybody have suggestions for how to obtain a .22 caliber barrel tube other than to watch for them on Ebay? I suspect I'll have to wait a long time and then pay a pretty penny if I go that route.
CZ currently has 10" 22 cal tubes in stock, but not 8". Seems easy enough for a gunsmith to cut the 10 incher down, then recrown and rethread the muzzle end. Any thoughts on that option?
Anybody have any insight as to when CZ will have the out-of-stock Dan Wesson barrels back in stock?

I recently bought all the .22 barrel tube lengths directly from the Dan Wesson factory in Norwich. Forget CZ and call Shawn in Spare Parts directly. Let me find his number ...

When you call him, mornings are better .. he's usually in the warehouse pulling parts in the afternoons. I'd try to get the same finish as my shroud, but if they don't have a blued tube, get a stainless one if they have it in stock.

Looks like I may have have my choice of purchasing a .22 caliber barrel tube from either EWK or through Shawn at the Norwich factory.
Any thoughts on which tube would be more accurate? I'm not planning to shoot matches with this gun, but I would like to put a scope on it and take it along small game hunting in an "across the chest" type holster. That way I may be able to get a few critters that are out beyond shotgun range - say 30-50 yards using a tree or a log as a rest.
I suspect either barrel will be good enough for this purpose, or at least more accurate than a "fair to middlin" shooter like myself.

Well I just got back from meeting the seller to purchase this model 15. Looking forward to putting some rounds through her this weekend. Seller threw in a nice suede pistol rug which fits well. Not something that would be easy to find with the 8 inch barrel.
Ill try to post some pics tomorrow.
The early articles about Dan Wesson mention that the barrel tubes are choked .001" at the muzzle end like a Colt Python is supposed to be. I don't know if the still are, if they ever really were. I have noticed increased resistance near the muzzle end when cleaning the barrels. I doubt a 22 barrel would be choked. I don't think EWK tubes are. I also don't have any idea if current factory tubes are choked. Does anybody have any knowledge of this?

Interesting. According to this article they are, but it seems to focus on the supermags.
