Having an issue with my granddad's old revolver. It shoots about 5"-6" high and 1"-2" right at 7 yards. Is there any way to fix this? Should I unscrew the barrel and try to re-set it differently? I tightened it down based on spacing the barrel appropriately from the cylinder so I don't believe I can just change orientation without impacting that gap. But I'm open to any suggestions. I absolutely love the gun - just wish it would shoot where I aimed it. Super smooth action, great trigger, amazingly beautiful piece of work, and sentimental value.

I've gone through this with a couple fixed sight guns I have...and frankly, I'm still narrowing down what they really want. So little time...actually, I should clear the time! But that's another matter entirely, so I digress.
Regarding the horizontal POI, definitely try to hold the shroud to the left or right (whichever direction you need) as you tighten down the barrel nut, to try to center the horizontal. Regarding the vertical, that one's a bit more challenging. You need to try different ammo, focusing with bullet weights. Do you reload? If so, you can fine tune what the gun wants with various gun powders & bullet weights. Generally, heavier bullets will impact the target higher than lighter bullets.

I'm shooting factory 158 grainers right now, both 357 and 38 seem to impact at the same location.
I guess I could go down to 125? I don't have a reloading setup for 38/357 yet. Just recently got a press and only have dies for 223 right now.
Thanks for the tips. I'll try to hold the shroud left a bit and see if going to lighter bullets helps the vertical.

If you have a model 14 as opposed to a model 14-1, the rear sight is driftable I think. If not, you might hone a small amount off the right side of the rear sight plate gap. 1 to 2 inches at 7 yards is pretty substantial.
The vertical POI may need a lighter load for close in work. A lighter bullet would probably go higher under 25 yards. Moot point if you have it fixed. Check out what its performance is at various distances and adjust your POI when shooting other than 7 yards.
