I have a 357 Magnum CTG that my Dad gave me. It is nickel plated and had the following info on it. Dan Wesson Arms, Monson, Mass. I can't find a serial number on it but when I open it up I found the following number 19472.
I am adding a picture but it is hard to read the number. From what I see on the forum it appears to be a Model 15. The handles are not original.
Nice gun. Looks in nice shape. It appears to be factory nickel, rather uncommon. The grips ( not handle) appear to be appropriate for the age of the gun. Dans can have many shapes of grips because they have a grip tang instead of the grip frame like most other handguns. Your gun was probably made in late 1971 or early 72. You should get a barrel tool to properly set the barrel cylinder gap. The only drawback to nickel IMHO is the difficulty of finding barrel assemblies in different lengths. If you ever see the 2 1/4" or 5 3/4" in nickel on ebay or Gunbroker you should grab them. You will want those for a model 15 with a taller front sight than a 14.

Very nice. That number you found inside the cylinder gate, that is the serial #. Like Old Dog said, likely 71' to 72'. Also, if you do not have the tools, and you intend to shoot the weapon, you should get them. EWKarms, on the right here makes a super barrel wrench and you can get a flat feeler gauge set at any auto parts.

A very good looking Model 15, you will find more about where it fits into the Dan Wesson history at DWCA.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
