I recently saw one advertised. Searching here the model is identified as a .357 Supermag. Did such a beast exist? How would you determine if it was a model 40 rather than simply a .44 magnum? I''m not really interested in the gun, just curious as I learn more about models.
Thanks

I saw that too- it appears to be a case of the owner not knowing what they have. That's common with DW listings. They actually have a Model 44 for sale- not a Supermag at all. The Supermags have noticeably longer frames and cylinders. Additionally the OEM shroud is (either slotted and) stamped 'Supermag'.
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....
Mistaken model designations happens quite frequently on GB because many people lack intellectual curiousity. I have recently seen a model 15 called a 12, a 14-2 called a 15-2 and a 44 called a 41 chambered in 44. When a gun is misnamed everyrhing else in the listing is suspect and the selling price is usually lower than it could be. By the way, there is a NIB .375 SM for sale with brass. BOY, am I tempted.Already have two NIB's not sure if I can stand a third. If a forum member was interested it would relieve me of temptation.
