I recently cleaned my revolver with some Smith & Wesson bore cleaning gel for the first time. I applied some gel to the brush and and ran it through the barrel and cylinders and let is set for about five minutes as proscribed. It came out well and I stowed i t in its bag as usual. I brought it out after a few days and the cylinder is very tough to rotate. I'm hoping that it's something benign like the gel just congealing between the cylinder and the arm on the crane. I was also wondering what the ejector bushing is made of. Hopefully it's not something that the cleaning gel could dissolve. In conclusion, I guess my question is how can I confirm what the problem is, and after diagnosing it how to take care of it. Thanks in advance for the help.

First welcome to the DWF. Next don't panic. The only plastic associated with a Dan Wesson is a credit card. You probably guessed the problem so a real good cleaning is in order. There are a wash pot full of products out their but for what you describe I would just drown it in WD40 as it is solvent based. If that gets her freed up be sure to give it a good coat of oil as the WD40 will evaporate. If you still have issues, there are tear down instructions here on the forum to help. Plus the best group of knowledgeable DW guys in the world (excluding myself), and we are always eager to help out a DW brother. Let us know how she comes out. Good luck.

Welcome to the DW club, and as said WD 40 should disolve any remaining cleaner or powder residue. You can also try 50/50 auto trans fluid and acetone, it's a great penetrating solution and the auto trans oil is used by some of the top gunsmiths and is the main ingredient in the high priced gun lubes.

Greetings ATex and Welcome to the DW Family.
Tranny fluid is one of those great inventions that goes far beyong any 4 wheel vehicle. Up till about 15 years ago it was only available here in Arequipa at dealers. Now that more auto tranny used cars are about most places have it on the shelf. But a quart will last many a revolver cleaning and lube jobs. Works good as a base for making your own smokeless powder lube with beeswax.

The spring & bushing won't come off unless you remove the cylinder from the crane...removing the crane involves removing the trigger group, because the crane retainer is under the trigger guard.
So you'll essentially be looking at this by the time you get to that point.
It sounds like you probably have it cleaned well enough as it is, for now. It still won't hurt to take it apart for a good scrubbing at some point.
