Hello, and welcome to the Forum from Wisconsin.  Yes, it is a model 15-2 VH6.

Nice revolver. Thanks for sharing. This is an early 15-2 model Dan Wesson made around 1975-1976. The rear sights are not original, but look great. The barrel shroud is from a slightly later era, but again looks great with the partridge front sight blade. The purplish hue on the frame is normal for Dan Wesson revolvers from that time; nothing to worry about. Enjoy!

Be careful removing that barrel, you don't want to mess the threads in the frame up

Removing a barrel that is damaged to that extent will almost certainly damage the threads on the frame. Once you get the barrel shroud off you can determine how much thread is left on the barrel. Perhaps you could turn the barrel the rest of the way in giving you better access to the damaged forcing cone. Depending on what tools you might have it might be possible to somehow compress it back into shape somewhat, or cut it off altogether. Not much room to work in there, so be careful. The help of a machinist or better yet a gunsmith would be an even better option. Good luck!
