This might be a stupid and/or impossible question. If so, please treat me gentle.
I got myself a 10" barrel and shroud for my DW 715, in .357 magnum. I am moving to a big house in the country (2,700 sq ft on one level) and thus will have more than one firearm for self defense. I was hoping to use the 715 w/the 10"-er as one of the self-defense solutions.
I would like to mount a flashlight on the barrel, but (obviously) there's no rail. Yes, I know: I could hold the light in one hand and the gun in the other. But I'm exploring the mounting idea. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm not price sensitive. If it makes no sense, say so and tell me why. If it's impossible, ditto.
Thanks much in advance, and sorry to be this defensive, but I know ugly this will look. Not as ugly as the alternative. If it can't work, I have other possibilities, but if it will work, the 715 is a great gun, and .357 magnum is a great self-defense caliber, and a 10" barrel offers obvious advtanges in stopping power.

I will not say that any Home/Self defense plan is stupid or impossible. The vast majority of Americans have no concept of home defense except to call 911.
While I have no real world experience with "in the Country", my guess is:
1) Perimeter/property monitoring to make you aware of a problem/intrusion, and lots of outside lighting. Forewarned is forearmed. And maybe a noisy dog?
2) If you have space/land around you, an AR/Mini 14... with appropriate optics and magazine(s) capacity
3) 12 ga shotgun (semi auto or pump) for up close and personal
4) Semi Auto pistol(s) in 9mm/.45 ACP/10mm for last ditch. This may be where a .357 Magnum fits in, 10" would be a personal choice
And above all, a plan for safe refuge that you can defend.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thanks for your reply. All of your comments are great, and will be implemented in some form.
Not sure if the rifle side of it will be a shotgun or my Henry .357 magnum lever rifle, but either way, there will be at least one loaded long gun on the premises for home defense. The DW 715 would be the handgun side of it. I'm reluctant to include the AR-15 in the mix because I don't want to have even the slightest theoretical worry about misloading or jamming in the middle of the night.
Therefore, for home defense: Revolver, lever rifle, pump shotgun. The possibility of any kind of operator (me) confusion in the heat of the night with those firearms rounds down to zero.
This discussion is part of my planning. A whole lot of thought is going into this, trust me.

Thanks! I will take a close look. Sure, it'd be better if it was stainless, but to be honest that's a very minor issue to me. The aesthetics of this solution will stink no matter what.
