Here are some pics of 2 DW 44's I recently received. Laugh  Can't wait to shoot a few rounds, but I admit I haven't fired anything as powerful as a 44 Mag, ever!ChickenWish me some GoodLuck

OK  GoodLuck

My first, and to date, only .44 Mag experience was with the scoped DW 44 V8 I bought for my son. I ran 50 rounds thru it before I sent it to him. With the weight of the 8" and scope, it was pretty manageable, but a heavier gun than I like shooting.

I'm actually taking my new 744 6VH for my first run tomorrow, I can tell you I like the balance and feel of the 6VH MUCH better than the scoped 8V

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

They are some nice looking 44,  I have a DW 744, 6 , 8 VH, that I would like to get the whole pac. I keep thinking someday I will shoot it but it never leaves the safe.

Thanks, Pikepoola1racer

Cool Pics I like how you grabbed a stainless AND a blued gun...now you have a yin/yang set.Laugh They both look great & shooting them will be a BLAST, I'm sure.rofl The first couple shots will probably be an awakening moment, but then they will be just fun after that.

I noticed in the upside down pic that one of your scope mounts doesn't look straight. You may want to make sure everything's tight, so you don't have the scope trying to jump ship on ya.Wink

Jaggman,

Nice set of ol' 44's there.  I have a DW 44 with VH6, VH8 & VH10 barrels and enjoy them all.  I also have a S&W 629 44 that was my first 44.  The 44 caliber is a real pleasure to shoot.  As long as neither have a ported barrel you can always load some hard cast lead rounds for just low recoil fun to get aquainted.  I have had a lot of accuracy out of a 205 grain lead SWC with 9.0 grains of WW231.  If the bullet is not soft it is not a problem.

Fun shooting,

SMF

Great lookin pair,Cool Pics Don't worry about the big bang. DW's usually are more manageable than most shooters due to the weight. Use light loads and they should shoot like a dream. Realising of course full house 44s are a hand full so just be prepaired. Any way sounds like you have a great range date in the near future.

Wisdom is merely the realization of how little one knows, therefore I am wise.

Nice looking pair... My 744 is quickly becoming my favorite Dan.  I took it to the range last weekend.  Shooting 44 Specials in it is a pleasure and full house 44 Mags aren't bad due to weight of the gun as others have pointed out.

Great idea getting one of each flavor, blue and stainless. They both look very nice. The SS one is about identical to my .41 Magnum, except mine has a patridge front sight. It is one of my favorite guns for plinking or silhouette. They balance perfectly for me with the VH6 barrel/shroud on them. I also have a VH10 in .44 Magnum that I use for silhouette. That heavy-weight really soaks up the recoil from full-power .44 Magnums. I would rather shoot my .41 Magnum DW than any other brand .357 Magnum, as the recoil is not as harsh with the heavier gun.
