I have a 445 Supermag. I guess you would call it a 7445-V8S based upon the 8" slotted vented rib barrel in stainless. I'm curious about getting some hogue rubber grips for it and I'm always curious about the manufacture dates of my guns. Can anyone point my in the right direction?
Also, will the 44 mag barrels fit the 445 supermag frames? I would like to have a 4" barrel to interchange but I hear they are costly.
Thanks!

First to the .
The Hogue grips that fit any large frame Dan Wesson will fit your 7445. All large frames have the round tang. There are lots of them for sale on ebay and Gunbroker.
The 44 mag barrel assemblies will NOT fit on your supermag frame. The ejector rod is longer on the supermags had will not fit in the shorter slot of the 44 mag barrel shroud. You CAN put a supermag shroud on another large frame gun though.
Yes barrels are expensive. They can be purchased directly from Dan Wesson in Norwich NY.
Go to the right side of the screen and look at the serial number registry list and it will help you date your gun.
Tons of great info here, and post up some pics of your guns, we like

I have fired a .445 SM in 4", about a dozen rounds was PLENTY for me, it's a beast (but I don't even like .44 Magnum all that much). The Serial Number info on these is pretty sparse, unfortunately.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Scorpio covered just about everything. You can find new Hogue grips at http://www.getgrip.com they are expensive though and usually have to be custom made, I believe.
However, you might want to look in the right hand column here; up at the top is a link to LB Custom Grips. LB is a member here and does fabulous work and his prices are reasonable. I have a bunch of his grips and I love them.
Good luck with whatever choice you make.

Greetings & Welcome to the DW home.
You are going to like this DW. They really begin to shine with 250 + grain bullets. You can hunt any critter out there and not feel undergunned.
I shoot a 414 SM with 265 + grainers. It really puts a thump on whatever it hits. Mine also has an 8" barrel which is a great length for hunting and long range target popping.

Grip screw too tight maybe? I just take mine up till they stop turning freely and then add about a quarter turn. I know this can be an issue on the small frame guns, so I suspect it could also affect the large and SM frames the same way.

So far I have touched off a little over 50 44mag rounds of my own.
This gun came with 50+ live 445 rounds and about 50 445 empty brass. They are loaded with 300 grain XTP's (They were reloads so I tore them down for inspection). I also ordered 200 starline 445 brass from Midway on Friday. I haven't fired any 445's yet but I am looking forward to it!
I'll bet, like you said, big thump... especially with a 300 grain bullet. OUCH!

Ooww thats ugly ! It can be relplaced. Usally when the main spring
is weak or weakened by the grip screw being into far or in your case the
main spring seat being backed out it causes trouble with the DA and
not the SA as you described. The main spring seat would be a good place
to start but I would drop the cylinder open and watch for the firing
pin while dry firing some SA. Jaggman may have hit on the problem
about the transfer bar .

Why in the world would that spring seat be so beat up? Also, is it supposed to be screwed in flush? I'm going to order a new one, should I also order a main spring?
The trigger pull on this gun is the lightest and smoothest I've ever felt so someone has probably frigged with the springs eh?
I appreciate your help everyone.
