My first Dan Wesson, a pistol pack I bought in '78. Best shooting revolver I had ever held. Impressed me and several other shooting buddies every time we went out to shoot. Unfortunately, I had to sell it and regretted that deal for a long time.
My new member of the family - just adopted today !
I recently had a friend ask me for info on a gun he wanted to buy from a co-worker(for $300). I asked him what it was and he replied “Dan Wesson or something like that - are they any good ?” I told him if he didn't buy it, I would because they are the best revolvers. He bought it and I started on my quest to get one of my own. I paid a little more for mine today but I am happy with it.
A question - what does the term “pork chop” mean as used in describing Dan Wesson revolvers ?

Man, your old Pistol Pak was sure a beauty! I like that dark colored combat grip.
Your new one looks like a beauty too, congrats on being able to grab one again.
From what I've learned, "Porkchop" describes the barrel shape on the early Dan Wessons. There's a few examples in this thread; https://www.danwessonforum.com/?page_id=3/auctions/early-357-porkchop-on-gb
The 2nd one down, with the set, shows the barrel shape a little better.
Ok ... I see it now. Thanks for clarifying that for me.
I hated to lose my first pistol pack - sure was a sweet revolver. I had actually gone to the gun show today looking for a small frame semi-auto for ccw. A DW was also on my list but didn't expect to actually find one. The guy I bought mine from had 2 for sale but I got the best one ! Unfortunately, no tools, books, front sights, etc.
I'm not sure about the differences between the model 15 and a 15-2.

Max- Check Ebay for barrel tools, currently 4 different styles, including a DW original for $26.50 Buy It Now-pretty good price. There is also a new maufacture one from a seller called blueirish 222. I have one and it's very well made. Also lots of grips and there are some front sights also.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

The BlueIrish tool is excellent and comes with a .006 gauge.
It is a barrel wrench and has hex tips for sights and grip. It does not have the 5/64 hex for the screws that hold the side plate - but generally that is probably never removed at the range.
I think it's an excellent choice.
Factory new (which isn't the old style "all included" wrench) is $43 - see our current DW parts list filed under the "parts and service" forum.
Used old style usually goes between $35 and $50 on the auctions.
You can get the BlueIrish for $20 - $35.
