Well, it took a little bit of work, but my Custom DW22 is finally done 🙂  It went from a stock 4" gun to a real beauty--here's the original pic...

And here is what she ended up as... 🙂 I installed a one-off original DW unfluted SS cylinder and SS barrel, and then slotted the shroud.  When it gets nice outside I'll take some better pics.  I still need to polish up the barrel a little more to match the cylinder.  I hope she shoots as good as she looks !

Shoot-

That's a great looking firearm. Nice job.

I am sure it will shoot well- it is a DW after all. Let us know how it does after getting a few rounds down the pipe.

That's gorgeous, SHOOT.  Nice work.  You might want to consider adding a zebra wood grip; they really look stunning, especially on blue guns.

That's a great looking DW, nice work!Cool  So, do you have a local machinist doing the shroud slots for you, or do you send them off to DW?

My local FFL guy has a vertical mill, so I've been letting him practice on my shrouds 🙂  That's why I gave him the beater 14-2 shroud first.  He is getting the hang of it, my slots are a little wider than they started out, he had to do some cleanup work.  I am very satisfied with the work, he gives me exactly what I ask for.

yea, I just did a touch up with cold blue.  Just like the 14-2--some day Hotbluer will get a box full of shrouds from me 🙂

SHOOT, did you have any issues with timing once you dropped in the new cylinder?

I had to do some fitting--took .006 off the length to fit it in the frame.  Had to take a little bit off the back of the hand to get the rotation just perfect.  I['m hoping it is a tack driver--if it warms up this week I'll try it out.

Cool Pics

Is it the angle of the picture, or does the grip really make the gun look big?

Might be the angle, but it looks like a small grip too.

Mike said it first, Zebra makes it perfect

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Man--you guys are tough 🙂  I tried every grip I own on the gun before I posted a pic... I thought the smaller grip looked better... guess I need to go try them again and post another pic with a zebra 😉

I like the small grip look as it reminds me of the old Colt Police Positive revolvers.

Just to show you the difference in a few grip sizes....

And here was my final choice... the smooth zebras.... 🙂  The dark stripes seemed to go better with the gun.
