Picked up my 8-2 from the FFL today. It's obviously a well used gun, but it looks in good shape. I'll get a chance to take it to the range on Monday.
For those who haven't been following my threat in the Newcomers forum, this is the gun that Robert Crais's novel detective Elvis Cole carries. 8-2's aren't the most common thing on the used market. After hitting the shows and watching gun broker I was resigning myself to buying a .357 (hell, I could always just shoot .38 Specials in it). Then this one came available for a great price and I pounced.

It looks to me to be in great shape. Congrats on finding the caliber you wanted. You are so right that you don't see this model very often. Nice find, but don't EVEN think this will be your last Dan. I got a feeling this is only the beginning.

No offense taken on the hijack. Always interested in knowing the distinction. Not sure what the history on this piece (it came through a pawn shop).

Congrats on landing that one! The early model 8's don't come along very often, so that was a nice find. I hope to find one for myself one day.

Well I put 50 rounds through it just now. Works well but the sight is going to take some getting used to. I'm consistently puttting things to the left. There's some asymetry to the paint applied to the rear site that's messing me up. I think a little clean up with a sharpie might fix the sight picture for me.
