My recent acquirement of a HS Sentinel MK III six-gun was previously identified by myself as having a "fixed-barrel" but after a little close-up study with my barrel wrench that MK III's barrel comes off big-time!
From the modest reference material I have "all" of the info on the High Standard MK II & MK III identifies a "fixed-barrel" with no room at all for a removeable barrel. These two six-guns were for cops and civilians alike for personal protection. As all of you here know both of these HS Models were nothing other than the DW Model 14-1 & 15-1 with HS rollmarks. I read a previous thread (thanks to CF) of the story behind the HS Sentinel MK II & III Models. The how and why was pretty much answered in this very informative thread. But another thing puzzles me regarding printed info on DW firearms; there seems to be some in-correct data on specs of DW six-guns. The HS Sentinel MK II & III are victims in regards to those "fixed-barrels" that very few, if any, had. It would seem everyone here that has one has a removeable barrel like mine. I haven't picked up yet anyone having anything but this and yet all printed material (in my grimy hands) features the fixed barrel. I wonder why this is. There would seem to be ample room for some corrective research to set-the-record-straight!
If there is someone here with a fixed barrel Sentinel II or III please come forward and share.

I would also be very interested if anyone has a MK II or III with a fixed barrel.
I have one theory regarding some of the inaccuracies in some magazines where articles are written about a new gun model. As expected, the new model given to the writer is either a very early gun, or possibly a prototype. A prototype is very often subject to some changes before the green light is given for production.
I think that initially, HS had intended to sell these guns as FB models...not sure why, but I think that was the intent. The article I have, states it plainly that it is not removable. However...at some point, someone clued in & realized that if you can't remove the shroud, you can't remove the crane! That would certainly pose a problem, if all these guns could not be fully disassembled.
So they put a nut on it. That's my theory as to why the FB was so short lived, if it even made it to production at all. If anyone really does have a FB MK II or III, I'd bet my socks that it's a very early gun with a low serial number.
BTW, I decided to get off my duff tonight & scan my magazine article. I'm going to post pic links in the main thread regarding the DW/HS connection HERE, mainly to try & keep as much of this info as centralized as possible.
