Searching for more info on Dan Wesson revolvers led me to this site (excellent by the way, it's why I joined the first time I was here) and I had NO IDEA they are still being made! I'm happy with mine, but did I make a big mistake not buying new? At least I can find the old ones, I haven't found prices for new ones anywhere or even seen one in person.
I wanted a .22LR DA revolver but could not decide for the life of me if I wanted a really short barrel for easy packing and plinking or a really long barrel for as much accuracy as possible in a handgun. Well with new revolver offerings being so disappointing and used prices on old, well-built, quality revolvers going through the roof my choices were pretty limited. I've seen on Gun Broker 2" S&W Model 63's going for $750 to $1200 with 8" Colt Trooper III's and S&W 17's and 48's (.22 magnum) in the same range. Then I remembered years ago about Dan Wesson and their interchangeable barrels. After I double checked that Dan Wesson was a quality product I picked up a near mint Monson manufactured .22 with 2,4,6, and 8" barrels for $650. For people that know Dan Wesson products far better than I do that may not be a bargain, but after looking at completed autiions and considering the prices of other revolvers I was considering, it seemed at least reasonable. ALL kinds of guns, all maufacurers and models seem to be going up in price these days (fear of a gun-grabing Obama?) and after reading about DW quality, they seem like they're undervalued.
Anyway thanks for reading. Great forum. Will be back soon.
Hey Willard,
I think at $650 you got a good deal on your pistol pack especially with 4 barrels. Did the case and barrel tool come with it?
Unfortunately Dan Wesson once again has discontinued revolvers. However I spoke with Genny last week about order some sights for my SuperMag and she said they are hoping to start up a custom shop later this year.
Again welcome to the forum!

Hi Jody,
No, no case but that's OK. But it did include the tools.
Great to hear that CZ supports owners of the old revolvers. Wish I could say the same for Smith & Wesson… I hear that when they bought Interarms that said they would do warrenty work on and supply parts for old Interarms products but after a short while they discontinued that policy and said "tough luck" (for a while they sold TPH's sent in blue S&W boxes, probably just the last of Interarms' inventory). I, and most other people complaning about this, have the Interarms-made licensed copy of the Walther TPH .22LR semi-auto. Guess they didn't want to offer a non-S&W designed .22 auto to compete with their own, though I think most .22 auto fans would rather have the TPH than any designed by S&W (except maybe the Model 41). I've had no problems with my TPH yet, but others have had parts break on theirs' and it's nearly impossible to get parts. Between this and their lawyer-lock and deal with the Klinton administration, no wonder so many swear they'll never buy a Smith again. Kudos to CZ-America for continuing to make parts available for DW revolvers, great customer service from what I hear, and not making political deals with the gun grabbers!
By the way, a poster on another forum said he spoke to CZ… he said that they confirmed that revolver production has ceased so they can concentrate on the now more popular 1911 line, but CZ “says” that they expect that 1911-clone popularity will wane in '09 or '10 and then may resume revolver production. Go CZ!

If you want a case, they are sometimes available on Ebay (search "dan wesson"). You might be able to complete the package for reasonable $$$. Congrats on the .22, I passed on one a few months ago, and kick myself for being kind of stupid for letting it go.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
