I purchased a new model 715 recently and I'm a bit frustrated with the lack of grip choices. The DW/Hogue grip that comes with the gun doesn't fit my hand well. It's feels too narrow and when I shoot .357 magnum loads it drives the gun into the web of my thumb in such a way as to be pretty uncomfortable to shoot. I have some nerve damage in my wrists that affects my thumbs and this exacerbates that problem. I have a Ruger GP100 Match Champion and I've solved that problem with the Hogue Tamer grip which is significantly wider and has excellent recoil cushioning. The combination of the wider grip and cushion makes shooting magnum loads much more manageable and I don't experience the sharp pain in the web of my thumb. Hogue doesn't make that grip for the Dan Wesson and I've thought about getting a cushioned, adhesive backed rifle cheek pad and cutting it down and wrapping the back of the Dan Wesson grip.

Maybe I'm just a wimp in my old age but I would love to hear of potential solutions.

Since all the old small frame DW grips will fit the new guns, see if you can find a Pachmyer Presentation grip that fits your hand better.  They made them in several different sizes and they are on ebay all the time for not too much money.

Have a look at this GRIP.

I didn't realize that the Pachmayr presentation grips came in different sizes for the same model. I have one that I picked up from Numerich gun parts for $17. It's used but in good shape. It also seems fairly small but definitely wider at the back of the grip. It's also as hard as a rock, so I'm a bit skeptical that it will solve my issues, which is why I haven't tried it yet but will probably give that a try next.

I don't see anything on the grip that indicates a size. The ones I've seen listed either state that they are for small frame or large frame.

There is a marking inside the upper portion of the grip, it's a letter I think.  Somewhere on the forum is a thread that explains what the different letters represent in terms of size.  I have a couple that are quite large and others that are smaller, all in the same frame size.
