The extractor rod is threaded in..standard rotation. I have used a piece of leather placed on the ferrule and then pliers to grip it and unscrew the rod. The leather should protect the appearance of the rod and keep it from getting buggered up. Other members may have a better way ?

OK. I did the Average Joe work, polished everything up real good, dissembled everything and cleaned.
The action does feel a bit smoother but still getting light strikes, though about 50% less then I was before the Average Joe work.
I'll replace the trigger and hammer springs and shim the cylinder when the parts come in.
fingers crossed.
Thanks again to all,

snake-eye is correct in his post. You should not force the cylinder back into the aligning ball. Here's info on grip screw length.
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Thanks to everyone who helped me with this.
I received the springs from Wolf and EWK and put in the few I think the gun needed.
I got cylinder spacers from TriggerShims.com and put in a .003 in shim.
I shot the gun yesterday: 50 rounds and just one light strike!!!
I'm happy with it the way it is. :-}
Thanks again to all.

Old Dog,
I do think the Wolf springs improved the action. However, I did so much to the pistol at one time I'm not sure what contributed to what.
I changed a few springs all at once, I polished the inside of the gun, I shimmed the cylinder.
What I do know is the gun went from not any fun at all to shoot because of the mis-fires and the trigger/hammer hanging up to a very fun gun to shoot again.
And I again say THANKS! to all ya'll who helped me get my gun shooting again.
