I've stumbled across two 445 SMs for sale:
Number one is a Palmer plant, SS, 8" barrel w/vent shroud; not slotted. It's been in for repairs once for lock up issues, but am told all is well now- pics look good.- $600
The other is a Norwich Alaskan Guide, 4" ported, black coated SS, never fired- $900
I probably can't get both, so if you had to choose....it would be:______________???
and why.
Best Regards, Ron

If I could afford either one, I would go with the AGS.
Why? The Alaskan Guides don't come up for sale too frequently.
I just recently got back into purchasing Dan Wessons and haven't seen an AGS come up since searching for DW's to purchase. I have purchased a 445 so I may be slightly biased, but I would still buy an AGS if I had the funds when one came up for sale.

Alright then,
Thanks for the input. I'm leaning towards the AGS because I hunt and that will work just fine for short (<100m) range deer, hog, squirrel, etc…
BTW, The AGS is is compensated, not ported- didn't want anyone to get too excited...sorry.
Any other thoughts out there???
Ron

Good morning
If money is the issue... Get the one YOU like the best. I am a SHOOTER. If I like it I will shoot it and if it shoots well then I will shoot/carry it alot. If It wont shoot it goess away.
Point.. I bought a 375 SM years ago. I could have had a 357SM and I heard rumors of the 445 in the Gates paper. But I LIKE the 375 caliber. And the 375 is my most shot DW when I am up there.

I just wanted to comment that shooting a squirrel with a 445 is just plain wrong!!! LOL
I haven't actually done it yet; but I did shoot a nutria once w/ a .44 mag; it didn't like that .
I told the fella this afternoon that I'd take the AGS and if I have enough leftover cash from selling my Colt SP1 and H&K VP70Z that I may pick up the Palmer 445
I'll be putting both up for sale this week to generate funds.

I just noticed the “Dan Wesson First Issue AGS 469″ stamp on the right side. Were there multiple issues and does anyone know how many of each issue???
Also, Jody- who's the Point of COntact at DW?; I don't see the barrel/ shrouds on the CZ online store.
Here's an advanced copy:

Man, that thing looks cool.
Don't quote this as gospel here, but I haven't seen any "second issue" guns out there. I think they may have started the first isse thing (for whatever reason), with intentions of continuing the theme, but never did.
Someone straighten me out on this, if I'm off base.
The digits below the first issue stamp on the side coincide with the last digits of the serial number on the frame. So in this way, the shroud undeniably matches the frame. I actually wish they did this system on previous guns, especially with Pistol Pacs.
Here's a current DW parts price list, with contact info...

Hey Rwsen,
You can't go by what is on the CZ site. They have a very limited number of parts listed on that site but you can call up Genny at DW and she can pretty much having anything you need. Below is a link to their contact information:
