Hi All:
Just wanted to know of anyone who had to send one of their beloved DW revolvers back to the factory to have it repair/refurbished. I am considering having my 722 sent back to have the double action feature repaired (sadly, it is not an SA only gun). I'm also thinking about having them refit a fluteless cylinder (if they have any more spares in stock). So, anyone have any recommendations on this? Any experiences? I appreciate this and thanks. The only way you can legally send it to them yourself is to have them send you a shipping label (they use FedEx exclusively). Then you must deliver it to a FedEx processing center. You can find the nearest one to you on their sight; make you filter the list by checking the "dangerous goods" box. You cannot ship this through a FedEx/Kinko's.
Keith will add the shipping cost to your repair bill. Then he will ship the gun back to you personally but it will require an adult signature. This is a little complicated but cheaper than taking it to an FFL.
BTW, Keith has done work for me as well and it's always outstanding.

I'm confused here, I have sent guns back to manufature many times using
UPS overnight. Told them it was a handgun and dropped off at there
processing center and paid at the time of drop off. Did the law change
recently ? ?

A non-licensee may ship a handgun only via common carrier to a licensee or manufacturer for repair. You may use FedEx or UPS but must observe their regulations (overnight priority) and you must notify the carrier that the shipment contains a firearm. A rifle or shotgun may be shipped via USPS mail to a licensee or manufacturer for repair. A handgun may not be shipped by a non-licensee via USPS mail under any circumstances. The manufacturer / repair center may return the firearm directly to you.

That's what I thought, didn't know if something had changed I had
not heard. Maybe Illinois has some different laws or something, I have
a brother that lives over there and the stories he's told me about all
the hoops they jump threw for gun ownership is crazy.
Having DW send you a shipping label maybe the best way to go
if they get a shipping discount. I would call and see what they will
charge for a label to return.
