My dad has a 15-2. Recently he has started shooting it more often. I got him one of EWK fiber optic sights so he can actually see the sight again. Anyways some times it will will not fire in double action. It appears to leave a nice strike in the primer but no boom. Second time around the round will always fire. Gun is clean have tried various primers works always in single action. Any thoughts. Thanks.

It just maybe time for some new springs!  You said the Gun is clean, these should be lightly oiled in places that rub!  back the grip screw out a half a turn or so and try it!

Ah and Welcome to the dwf-sign!  Others will be along shortly to chime in too!

From that statement, if I read correctly, sounds like you may have

some hard primers or something. Have you tried different ammo's ?

Also if your grip screw is turned in too tight it will weaken main spring

giving a light strike.

Thanks for the replies. Parts kit is ordered. Grip screw which was aftermarket has been shortened considerably. I will give it a try before changing the spring. I am sure I will go ahead and replace it as well as the other springs anyway. It can not hurt. I am thinking the grip screw might be enough though. I did not measure it but the double action pull now feels heavier. Would be nice if something was simple fix for a change.

The grip screw has (screwed ) many a Dan! over tight and all kinds of things happen mostly FTF!     Let us know if this took care of it!  cool-pics would work too (cause we like seeing Dan's)

Shortened screw did the trick. Still plan to replace the springs once I get them. I will get on the pictures.

Here are the pics. Unfortunately no original grips. Got the four inch and six inch in a package deal. Already had one six inch. Eight inch barrel with two shrouds one for open sights one for scope. Scope was a 4x leupold. Moved it over to a Ruger Single Six hunter in 17 hmr. Eventually want to get a lower power scope for the Dan Wesson. Two inch barrel and shroud is late production. Wanted a two incher but could not find a period correct one to match the other barrels. But for 75 bucks I was not going to pass it up. I know there is collector interest but to me I just like the Dan Wessons for the great shooters that they are so I am not to worried about putting together a perfect set.
