I said in my intro that I didn't own a DW, but a old friend does and he asked my help to ID the year it was manufactured and an approximate value.
It's a Dan Wesson Arms .22 LR from Monson with a 4 digit serial number, 78XX. From the picture he sent me it looks to be if very good condition. He did some horse trading for it in the early '80's. He has a barrel wrench but no other barrels.
Any help will be greatly appreciated by both of us.

Looks like 1979

22lr started production in 1979. It is definately an early one. That has no impact on value. Condition is everything. Box and tool, type of grips affect value. Your grip is not original to the gun. By 1979 the DW medallion was being used. Prices for 22lr have recently gone up considerably. One picture is not enough to judge but it would probable sell for between 550 and 650. You will see many on Gunbroker listed for 750 and 799 that are not selling.
