Hi

I am new here and I just got a really nice Model 15 pistol pack with the extra barrels. The gun works great but when using it I had one little problem. After about 150 rounds of 38 special the little plug on the left side plate that acts as the cylinder stop when you are ejecting spent casings from the gun fell out. No real issue I put it back in and of course I tapped it in to far and then it was binding on the trigger so I took off the side plate and taped it back flush and then everything worked fine again. Well after another 200 rounds out it falls again. My thought here is that I am going to have to lock tite it in. Is this correct or is there a better way of fixing this problem. Or has no one ever heard of this before? Any and all help will be much appreciated on this matter.

Thanks Graydog

Glad you're here.  What you describe is not uncommon with the early models.  The design was later changed to be an integral part of the side plate.  Normally, a press fit will work but in your case it sounds as if it has happened enough times that an epoxy or locktite solution may be needed.  You're on the right course; no issues.

I agree, use some red Loctite & you shouldn't have to worry about it again.

My original 15-2 has this problem. My son has this gun now, and lost the cylinder stop. I got a replacement piece from  DW (actually a couple of them) and I think he epoxied his in.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Well I had a closer look and I now see the problem. Right where the tab pushes into the side plate it is cracked. Does anyone know where I can get a used or new side plate? Also can I install the upgraded version on my gun so this does not happen again?

Thanks Graydog

I'd epoxy or locktite the stop in place and keep shooting.  Chances are the crack won't go all the way through.  If you really want- then ebay is probably the best place to find a sideplate but it will probably require some fitting.

Side plates can sometimes be purchased on Gun Broker or eBay, or from Numrich

http://www.gunpartscorp.com/

I will offer the opinion that getting those parts shipped to Canada (technically a foreign destination) may be challenging, and as mentioned previously, a sideplate is considered a Factory Fit item by DW

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Being in Canada is not a problem for me. I have a buddy that lives in Seattle so I can have anything shipped to him and then when I go down for a visit I can pick it up.
