I just acquired a Dan Wesson .22lr revolver.  According to your site it has a 8" very heavy barrel/shroud.  Monson made, ser. 136xx.  I've just come in from shooting it, and am amazed at it's accuracy.  The DA trigger will take some getting used to, as I'm used to my early model High Standard Victors.  However, the SA on the Dan Wesson is very good.

Now for the help.  I was shooting CCI Velocitor ammo.  Will this ammo be okay in this gun, or should I use something a little milder?  This stuff works great in the Victors, But I think it's better to find out before doing damage to a quality pistol.

Oh, and I guess I'll have to start lifting that brick again.  I shoot one handed, and this thing is heavy…lol.

Thanks in advance for the help.

By the way, whats a ball park value on this revolver?  It's a 95% piece.

First, welcome to the forum. To answer your question about the ammo, I believe you already answered it yourself when you stated "this thing is heavy". These guns are built to handle any ammo you throw at it. 22's tend to be shot a lot and if you eventually burn out the barrel the nice thing is you can simply replace it. If you want a spare to hang on to shoot me a pm. As far as value, a 95% .22 is probably in the $400 range. Have fun with it!

Thanks for the welcome, and the info.  I don't think that DA trigger will take too long to get used to.  It's one of the smoothest I've ever felt.

Welcome from Kentucky!

Don't worry about that ammo. The .22 was built on the same frame as the .357 Magnum. There is no .22 ammo anywhere that comes even close to that power level. Enjoy it!

Welcome to DWF.

The VH designation you see refers to Vent Heavy. You can shoot anything in a DW .22, as noted earlier, it is basically the strongest .357 Magnum frame you can find that has been chambered to .22 lr. The only way you can break a DW .22 is with a jackhammer.

I sold my Victor about a year ago because I was afraid to shoot any HV ammunition in it, too many stories about cracking the frame.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Welcome to the DWF.  You'll find that Dan Wessons are "tough as nails" as the saying goes.

Enjoy.

Just enjoy they can take it, as mentioned it is a heavy frame comes in 22, 22mag, 32H&R, 32.20 and357mag. keep an eye open for a extre barrel and you will be set, as for value if you have all the goodies that if had originaly then it could go as high as 500 to $ 600.00 as they say gondition condition condition.
