My best guess on the date of manufacture of this 15-2 would be 1979. Appears to be made right before they changed the medallions on the grip from DWA to DW. More knowledgeable folks than I may have a better estimate. Nice looking Dan that appears to be in very good condition. Happy shooting!

Definitely a 15-2 made sometime in the late 1970's.

My 15-2 is an even earlier one with a five digit serial number (probably made around 1974), yet it has the (non original) DW medallions on the grips. I bought mine used about 2 years ago, so apparently a previous owner had changed out the grips sometime during its nearly 45 year history. I'm sure that's not the only thing that has been altered, and this is common with "used" Dans as many parts are interchangeable with little or no gunsmith skills required.

Yours appears to be completely original, and a fine heirloom indeed!

FYI

I have a 131xxx serial #  and  April 1st 1978 paperwork in the box. It was probably made in late 1977 or early 1978. Your 181xxx would fit the order of 1979. There is also a list of downloadable serial #s off this website

I reattached for your reference
