I just picked up a new to me 15-2 that passed the eyeball test.  However, it did not pass the shooting test.  First gripe, shoots 6" high and 6" right, not able to adjust with rear sight (I understand it might be fixed by reinstalling barrel/shroud).  Second gripe, no boom boom in DA.  Third (may contribute to #2), the dang grip fell off after 50 rounds.  Where in the heck do I start to fix this stuff?  I thought 500 bucks was a decent price for the condition but I'm starting to think I've been had.

Ouch!   First welcome to the dwf-sign.  Now lets start simple. Is the grip screw missing? Or has the main spring seat backed out? Will need to know before speculating on the no boom boom part.  Pictures may help if you are not familiar with DW parts.  Do you have the barrel wrench to remove the barrel shroud. Not sure it will change point of aim but it is a simple place to start. Others will be along who are smarter than I soon. Do not fret, we will help you figure out what ails your shooter.

Grip screw is still there, I think what happened is it was so over tightened that the screw stripped out the channel in the grip, there is only one washer the diameter of the screw head on the screw.  Don't have the barrel wrench yet.

Let's start with Hi! Welcome to DWF, there are not many DW problems that we cannot help you fix.

Look here first, even though you will not be undertaking this work yet. It gives you a good look around your 15-2, and helps with how everything works:

https://www.danwessonforum.com/forum/reloading/tuning-up-your-15-2-the-average-joe-method/

Grip fell off-maybe no grip screw, which would have been an Allen head screw inserted through the bottom of the grip, and screws into the mainspring seat that LB mentioned.

No DA Boom Boom-usually related to the grip screw as it screws into the mainspring seat. Examine that mainspring seat to see if it may be damaged,or have a part of the grip screw stuck in it

High and Right-do you mean that your rear sight won't adjust at all, or just not enough? Does your shroud have the interchangeable front sight blade, or the pinned front sight from the Model 14-2? Removing the shroud to make sure the shroud locating pin (in the front of the frame) is straight and true and that the shroud is properly installed is a good first step on diagnosing this problem.

Pictures always help us help you.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Heck I'll charge up the ole cannon and shoot a library.  FWIW the sight won't adjust enough to compensate for the elevation error.

You may have a Model 14-2 (fixed rear sight) barrel assembly on there, the front sight on that is much lower.

This is a good start. If the grip screw is turned in too far it will mess with the hammer spring causing issues (probably the ones you mention) Get another grip and be sure the screw only engages about 5 or 6 full turns and I believe that will fix a few issues. Once we see a pic we will know if you have the right shroud or not and can go forward from there. Check out EWK to the right side if the screen for the best barrel tool going.

See only a member less than 3 hours and already making headway. laugh Should have you fixed up in no time.

Hello and Welcome to the DW home.

Looks like everyone pointing in the right directions.  If by chance the screw is screwing in to far Just add a couple washers on the bolt as a temporary solution.

OK you have a heavily modified grip and front sight. I would start by replacing both. I believe that will fix most of your issues. Of course a good cleaning can't hurt if you haven't already done so. Good luck

Will do.  At first I thought it was just missing the plastic insert but then it looked more and more like a rabid dremmel tried to eat the sight and got a bit of the finish of the shroud.

That looks like a case of someone wanting to make some improvements to the gun, but not knowing when to stop. screwy  The good thing is that both those parts are an easy fix & I'm sure it will perform a whole lot better once you've replaced the offending items.range-time

I think the boys have you fixed up- replace the front sight and grip.  That grip screw was seated way too deep which caused your issues in DA firing.

Grip replaced thanks to blacktop, and my double action woes are solved.  And oddly enough the POI lowered almost to POA with 38 specials.  I'll still be replacing the FSB though because I just ordered one through EWK.

Without bragging, once again DWF brings us from "OMG what is going" on to "well, it's pretty much fixed, now let's do some shooting".

"there are not many DW problems that we cannot help you fix"

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
