Hi everybody.
Well As of July of this year(2015) I acquired one of the new non-blemished model 715 revolvers, number 93 off the production line.
You can buy new barrels for them directly from Dan Wesson.
They are a slight bit different but still are interchangeable with the older models.
I bought a new 2 1/2 barrel and put it on my old gun also.

At last weeks gun show, a small time dealer had a new, non blemished/pre-production 715. He said he's had about a month now. He was asking $1189 (iirc)....and add another hundred for tax....Really? Is that what you guys are paying? It's difficult for me because last year I bought an excellent condition 4" 15-2 for $325. I realize the days of cheap DW's are gone, but I just don't see it.

I feel the same way, they're priced into the crazy zone. Only people who are fanatics and people with too much free cash will bite for a new one at the price level they are at now, especially when you can get a really nice 715 for like half that much.
I bought my last one for about $350, a 6" 15-2 in really nice shape. Only issue was some dope had loctited the barrel nut on it. It's the second time I've bought a 6" barrel with the nut loctited on. I got this one off with only a little work, unlike the other one that I had to do a lot of torch work to get it off.

I purchased one last month. It was certainly more that used examples. Mpst used models I see at the shows are around $700 for a very good condition 15-2. The new production guns are very well made and exceed what S&W is selling for $800 new. Interchangeable barrel and limited availability of used 15-2s drove me to buy the new one. I have also added a 2 1/2" and 4" barrel from DW. might have been pricey at $1100, but I am pleased with my purchase. Still like my 15-2 too.

Would it be foolish of me to assume that the new, blued 715 rear sight assembly can be inter-changed with a rear sight assembly on an old, original 15? Or who is the current after market producer? I apologize, I know this subject has been beaten to death, but I'm kind of new here.

I suggest you visit New Members, introduce yourself, and help us learn how we can help you
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
